Ciao!🧭 I'm an Italian guy (27 y.o.) passionate about languages, playing classical guitar and healthy/sustainable lifestyle, eager to explore life fully and see how many versions and hidden sides of myself I still ignore, and try to bring them to light.

I first heard about workaway 3 years ago, while travelling in Morocco and connecting with other travellers in hostels. It was like a revelation to me! I felt it could be the perfect way to explore the world in a less consumeristic way, experience local cultures and connect with other people looking for something deeper and more authentic than what our modern world usually offers/pushes us to.

My route isn't linear: after completing my master degree (in eastern languages -my major was Arabic) I worked as an English teacher in a college in northern China for 1 year.🈵️

Now I feel it's time to explore myself through new experiences abroad, possibly something more connected to the nature, for example in agriculture, farming, harvesting... I'm up for everything, as long as I can be helpful to someone and experience this simple, essential connection to the earth, the plants and what keeps us alive. 🌱
I would also like to learn/improve some languages, especially Arabic dialects (starting from Moroccan darija), Russian and Chinese🀄

To describe myself a little more, I can mention that I care a lot about a healthy and sustainable lifestyle: I regularly have bodyweight workout and run, I try to eat simple, genuine food as long as it's available (I would love to contribute to produce it!), but I think I'm also an adaptable guy. I'm often described as a somewhat ascetic person, since I instinctively avoid alcohol, snacks and everything I see as 'unnecessary' and -even slightly- harmful.🚭

I love playing classical guitar, and I try to take it with me wherever I'll go. 🪕 I also like singing (especially loud, with other people) even if I suck at it.🫣
I'm into long walks and swimming everywhere, in every season.🌊❄️
I love languages, and I hope 'workaway' can help me improve the languages I've (badly) learned so far🧧

I would say my character is ambivert: sometimes I immediately connect to the people I meet and I feel no boundaries at all (I can tell everything about my life, treat them as my best friends etc), sometimes I find it hard to open myself to new people, especially if I don't perceive genuine interest from their side, or if our energy doesn't match. Either ways, I also like (and need) to spend a lot of time alone to think, write, listen to myself and elaborate all the impressions I get from outside.
I'm very tidy and mindful about minimising waste (in eating, having a shower, doing the washing up and such daily actions). 🌱

What else? I actually find it hard to define myself, and questions like 'who are you' or 'what do you do in life' (usually expecting some straightforward answer matching my identity with a profession, like 'I'm a teacher' or 'I'm an engineer' etc) are very hard for me to answer. I usually reply by saying what I've studied and what jobs I experienced so far, even if none of these really reveals who I am. Who am I? I don't really know. That's maybe why I'm here.👤

Plus de détails sur les langues qui m'intéressent
I would like to practice the local language, or -at least- to learn a bit of it (in case I don't know it at all, like Finnish). In exchange, I can teach you Italian! If you're very interested, I can prepare some materials in advance before I come there. I can also teach you my language through music: that is, I can teach you to sing songs in Italian (or in another language I have some knowledge of) while I play the guitar. I think it's a great way to learn having fun!

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I can teach you my native language (Italian) or how to play guitar.🪕
If you're curious, I can teach you the fundaments of the languages I have studied (including standard Arabic, Persian and a little Chinese), though I might be a little rusty when it comes to free talk🀄
I like cleaning floors and yards, doing the washing up and houseworks in general.
I have some basic experience about organic gardening, permaculture and harvesting vegetables and grapes, and I'm willing to learn more🥬

I like to go fishing sometimes. If there is a lake or a river nearby and there's the chance to cook what I catch, I may bring my fishing rod🎣

I tend to avoid meat (I would say I'm 'flexitarian') but I can easily adapt to the host's habits. After all, the local food is part of the experience
