✈️A small update from my recent journey:
I’ve recently taken my first steps into the world of Workaway, and they’ve already been incredibly meaningful. I started in Tuscany, helping with the olive harvest and sharing daily life on a farm, an experience that confirmed how important community living and being close to nature are for me. Right after that, I continued my journey to Portugal for another Workaway, where I supported a single mother with her three children, helping with childcare, household tasks, and some construction work.
I’ll soon be back in Portugal, and I’m now looking forward to discovering new experiences that allow me to keep learning, helping, and connecting with people🇵🇹🇵🇹

My name’s Luigi, I’m a 27-year-old Italian guy, and I’m looking for something more!
I’m writing this bio from Milan, the city I moved to after finishing university, but lately I’ve been feeling the need to get some fresh air and a change of scenery.

I studied economics and, as often happens in Italy, I found my first job here in Milan, in line with my studies. I worked as a sales rep for a small finance company in the city center. At first, I thought I’d found my place and was slowly building the career I’d dreamed about during university. But, spoiler alert, I recently handed in my resignation, saying goodbye to the much-coveted permanent contract.

And that brings me back to what I said at the start: I’m looking for something more.

I realized that environment just wasn’t right for me, it didn’t make me happy. I felt increasingly out of place, less connected with myself and with the people around me. I could feel myself drifting away from my values, my emotions, and from the kind of relationships I truly want to have. The constant pressure for performance and profit above everything else was weighing me down and making it hard to focus on my own goals and priorities.

That’s why I decided to change direction, to look for something more genuine. And I can’t wait to begin this new journey!

I grew up in a small town near Vicenza, in northern Italy, surrounded by green hills. My family, though, comes from a village in southern Italy (Calabria), where my grandmother, uncles, and cousins still live. I go there once or twice a year to visit them and immerse myself in their daily life, which is often so different from mine. I feel really lucky to have that contrast: growing up between two cultures that share some similarities but also many differences has definitely shaped who I am and sparked my curiosity to explore worlds beyond my own.
I spent my childhood outdoors and always surrounded by friends, playing soccer on the local field, racing our bikes down the hills, and playing endless games of hide-and-seek in the wheat fields or between the vineyards. I loved every bit of it.

For university, I moved to two different cities, Ferrara and Pavia, both bigger than my hometown, but still small enough to feel human and welcoming. My best memories from those years are tied to the friendships and real connections I built. After changing several houses and living with many different flatmates, I learned what it means to share space with people who are very different from you. I learned to respect others’ boundaries, to listen, and to share both joy and tough moments with people who, from strangers, slowly became family.
It’s one of the most beautiful and meaningful experiences I’ve ever had, it made me deeply happy.

I’m sure I’ll experience that same feeling again in this new adventure, and I’m excited to meet new people and create new connections that I’ll hopefully remember just as fondly one day.

I’m a cheerful, outgoing person, I love being around people and getting to know new ones. Of course, I also enjoy spending time on my own when I need it; I’m not afraid to say “no” or to spend a quiet evening by myself. But in general, I’m happiest when I’m part of a group, sharing good moments, especially around the dinner table!

As you’ve probably noticed, I really enjoy sharing my thoughts and feelings, and I love listening to other people’s stories and emotions too. I see myself as a sensitive and empathetic person, and being able to help others, even in small ways, genuinely makes me feel good.

While studying, I worked in different roles, mostly customer-facing jobs in restaurants and hospitality, but I’m always eager to learn new things and ready to get my hands dirty!

I’d love to improve my English by using it as much as possible, right now it’s mostly school-level and a bit rusty.I love cooking and sharing food with others.
My favorite saying is “add one more seat at the table, there’s always room for a new friend.” I’d love to learn new recipes from around the world and teach you some of the ones I’ve picked up from my family kitchen, just don’t tell my parents I’m giving away their secrets! :)

I’m ready to set off right away, and I can’t wait to start this new adventure with all the excitement and joy I’m feeling in my heart.

Mi chiamo Luigi, sono un ragazzo italiano di 27 anni e sono alla ricerca di qualcosa di più! 
Scrivo questa bio da Milano, città dove mi sono trasferito finita l'università e dalla quale sento il bisogno di prendere aria. 

Ho studiato economia e come spesso accade in Italia, ho trovato qui a Milano il primo impiego in linea con il mio percorso di studi. Lavoravo come commerciale in una piccola realtà che si occupa di finanza nel centro della città. Inizialmente credevo di aver trovato il mio posto e di star realizzando piano piano ciò che sognavo durante gli studi ma, spoiler, ho consegnato da poco le dimissioni all'azienda, rinunciando così al tanto ambito contratto a tempo indeterminato. 

E qui mi ricollego all'inizio della mia descrizione e alla mia ricerca di qualcosa di più!

Mi sono reso conto che quell'ambiente non facesse davvero per me e che non mi rendesse felice. Mi sentivo sempre meno a mio agio, meno in contatto con me stesso e con le persone che avevo attorno. Percepivo di allontanarmi sempre più dai miei sentimenti, dai miei valori e da ciò che realmente ricerco nel rapporto con gli altri. La caccia alla performance e al profitto prima di ogni altra cosa mi schiacciava e mi rendeva difficile individuare e rispettare i miei obiettivi e le mie priorità.

Per questi motivi eccomi qua, ho scelto di cambiare strada, ricercando qualcosa di più autentico, e non vedo l'ora di mettermi in cammino! 

Sono cresciuto in un paesino in provincia di Vicenza (nord Italia) circondato da verdi colline. Tutta la mia famiglia proviene, invece, da un paesino del sud Italia (Calabria) dove ancora risiedono mia nonna, tutti i miei zii e tutti i miei cugini. Almeno una o due volte all'anno scendo a trovarli immergendomi così nella loro quotidianità, spesso profondamente differente rispetto alla mia. Mi sento molto fortunato ad avere questa opportunità: potermi rapportare con due culture, sicuramente simili su alcuni aspetti ma allo stesso modo così diverse su altri, sono convinto abbia arricchito il mio modo di essere e acceso in me la curiosità di scoprire realtà differenti dalla mia. 
Ho passato la mia infanzia immerso nel verde e in compagnia degli amici di sempre. Le giornate passavano veloci tra una partita di calcio al campetto, una gara in bici sfrecciando giù dalle colline e gli innumerevoli nascondini nei campi di grano o tra le vigne. Ho sempre amato tutto questo. 

Mi sono trasferito per frequentare l'università in due diverse regioni, in città sicuramente più grandi del paese dove sono cresciuto ma comunque a misura d'uomo: Ferrara e Pavia. I ricordi più belli che mi porto dentro da queste due esperienze sono legati alle amicizie e ai rapporti veri che ho costruito in quegli anni. Cambiando svariate case e vivendo con molti coinquilini e coinquiline, ho sperimentato cosa significhi convivere con persone molto diverse l'una dall'altra, ho imparato a comprendere ed a rispettare gli spazi di ognuno e ho condiviso gioie e dolori con coloro che da sconosciuti, giorno dopo giorno, sono diventati sempre più famiglia. Questa penso sia l'esperienza più bella e significativa che ho avuto modo di vivere fino ad oggi e che mi ha reso profondamente felice.

Sono convinto di poter rivivere certe emozioni in un'esperienza come questa e sono entusiasta di poter conoscere nuove persone e creare nuove connessioni che magari un giorno ricorderò allo stesso modo. 

Sono un ragazzo solare, amo stare in compagnia e socializzare con nuove persone. Quando necessario, riesco a prendermi del tempo per me stesso non avendo paura di dire qualche "no" o di passare una serata in solitaria, ma in generale preferisco sempre fare gruppo e condividere più momenti possibili con gli altri, specialmente a tavola. 

Come probabilmente avrete capito dalla mia descrizione mi piace molto condividere i miei sentimenti e le mie esperienze, allo stesso modo adoro ascoltare le altre persone, le loro storie ed accogliere le loro emozioni. Mi reputo una persona sensibile ed empatica, poter dare una mano anche con piccoli gesti e attenzioni mi fa sentire profondamente bene.

Durante gli studi ho sempre lavorato in vari contesti, principalmente a contatto con i clienti e in realtà di ristorazione, ma sono volenteroso di imparare nuove cose e di mettermi in gioco non avendo paura di sporcarmi le mani!  

Mi piacerebbe molto poter migliorare il mio livello di inglese, praticandolo il più possibile per sentirmi maggiormente a mio agio con la lingua. Al momento il mio inglese è prettamente scolastico e un pochino arruginito. 
Amo cucinare e condividere il cibo con gli altri. Il mio motto preferito è "aggiungi un posto a tavola che c'è un amico in più". Mi piacerebbe tantissimo imparare nuove ricette da tutto il mondo ed insegnare quelle che ho appreso nella cucina di casa a tutti voi, basta che poi non lo diciate a mamma e papà! :) 

Sono pronto a mettermi in viaggio fin da subito e spero di poter iniziare questa nuova avventura il prima possibile con tutto l'entusiasmo e la gioia che sento nel cuore!

I’ve always been an independent and proactive person who loves taking on new challenges and building my own path. Since I was 16, I’ve worked different part-time jobs while studying to finance my travels and personal projects.

Most of my experience is in hospitality, I’ve worked as an assistant pizza maker, ice cream seller, barista, bakery assistant, and waiter. These jobs often involved direct contact with customers and teamwork with people of different ages and backgrounds. What I enjoy most is connecting with people, both guests and colleagues.
Over time, I’ve learned to be patient, understanding, and to listen actively. I’ve developed strong attention to detail, teamwork skills, and good time management.
Working in places where hygiene is key, I also learned how to properly clean and maintain work areas, using various tools and cleaning products.

When I started university at 19, I moved to different regions of Italy, sharing apartments with other students. Living on my own taught me to take care of all the household chores needed to keep shared and personal spaces clean and organized. After some early “artistic” accidents with my white clothes, I’ve even become a bit of a washing machine expert 😉
During these years, I’ve also deepened my passion for cooking. I love experimenting with recipes and creating fun combinations to surprise my flatmates. In every house I’ve lived in, I’ve been the one wearing the apron and cooking for everyone at any hour of the day.
I love pasta in all its forms and sauces (no ketchup 😡), but what I love even more is cooking it and sharing it with others, hoping to make them happy, which I must admit, often happens!

I’m an animal lover, especially dogs and cats, and have experience as both a dog and cat sitter, even with large dogs. Every time I meet a furry friend on the street, I just have to stop and give them some cuddles!
I also adore children and their contagious energy. I enjoy playing with them, entertaining them, and finding creative ways to communicate and make them laugh. Recently, I became an uncle for the first time, and it’s honestly the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

In my final year of university, I worked as a peer tutor, helping younger students step by step in developing their projects. It was a wonderful experience that I’d love to live again, even in a different context.

Sono sempre stato un ragazzo autonomo, a cui piace molto mettersi in gioco e crearsi la propria indipendenza. Da quando ho 16 anni ho sempre fatto vari lavoretti durante gli studi, per poter finanziare i miei viaggi e le mie varie esperienze.

Ho lavorato principalmente nel mondo della ristorazione (aiuto pizzaiolo, gelataio, barista, aiuto panettiere e cameriere) spesso a stretto contatto con il pubblico e in team di varie persone, anche di età differenti. Ciò che più mi piace è proprio il rapporto con il cliente e con i colleghi. Ho imparato ad essere molto paziente, comprensivo ed ad ascoltare in modo attivo. Ho sviluppato precisione e attenzione al dettaglio, capacità di lavorare in gruppo e una corretta gestione del tempo.
Lavorando inoltre in locali dove è fondamentale la pulizia e l'igiene, ho sempre svolto a fine turno operazioni di pulizia accurate, imparando quindi ad utilizzare i vari strumenti e prodotti necessari.

Da quando ho iniziato l'università, a 19 anni, mi sono trasferito in altre regioni d'Italia, condividendo l'appartamento con ragazzi e ragazze della mia età. Vivendo fuori casa, ho imparato tutte le faccende necessarie a mantenere in ordine e puliti i vari spazi (condivisi e personali). Dopo qualche primo incidente, dal valore artistico elevato con i mie capi bianchi e delicati, sono addirittura diventato un mago della lavatrice 😉
In questi anni ho potuto sperimentare e approfondire la mia passione per la cucina, imparando tantissime ricette e inventando abbinamenti curiosi da sottoporre ai miei coinquilini. Nelle varie case in cui ho vissuto, infatti, spesso ho indossato il grembiule da cuoco, cucinando a qualsiasi ora e per qualsiasi tavolata. Amo la pasta in ogni sua forma e con ogni tipo di condimento (no ketchup😡) ma amo ancor di più cucinarla e condividerla con le persone sperando di coccolare il loro palato, il che devo ammettere accade spesso.

Amo gli animali, specialmente cani e gatti e ho esperienza come cat sitter e dog sitter, anche di cani di grossa taglia. Ogni volta che incrocio sulla mia strada un cagnolone o un gattino devo per forza fermarmi a fargli due coccole, è più forte di me.
Adoro i bambini e la loro gioia ed energia contagiosa. Mi piace molto giocare con loro ed intrattenerli. Cerco sempre di trovare il modo di comunicare più comprensibile per loro e farli divertire e ridere. Recentemente sono diventato zio per la prima volta ed è stata la cosa più bella che mi sia mai capitata!

Durante l'ultimo anno di università ho svolto l'attività di peer tutoring, avendo la possibilità di seguire l'apprendimento di ragazzi poco più giovani di me, seguendoli passo passo nella realizzazione di vari progetti. E' stata una bellissima esperienza che mi piacerebbe molto rivivere anche in contesti differenti.
