I'm always in search of helping people that may not have many opportunities in life, as I'm fully aware of the fact that not everyone on this world is as privileged as me. For this reason, it is my mission to work as a volunteer in order to enable other people to do what they seek out for while also gaining essential people skills as well as life experiences.
It fills me with joy when I see things work out, and because of that I'm working as hard as I can to better the situations of the people I'm helping or educating.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
One of my best abilities is that I'm physically very fit, as I'm playing lots of football and tennis, from which I also gain endurance.
At the same time, I would say I am quite smart, as I graduated high school in 2024 with really good grades.
In general, I am a very good team player, which I learned in my football teams as well as in the company I recently had an internship in.
I also really enjoy working with children and can do so pretty good, I believe.

It was amazing to spend time together with Frieder. He truly brought positive energy to both the school and our soccer program — the kids and the whole team really enjoyed having him around. He made a big impact here, not only by teaching and playing with the little kids but also by creating a special program for them on his own.

Working was something that I'll always remember. I volunteered at the pre school and helped with the soccer program for a total of 6 weeks in January and February of 2025, and in that time learned more about the Tanzanian culture than I could have ever imagined. There are multiple different aspects that made this stay so memorable:

1. Weza… read more himself
It was my first solo trip into an African country, and so, naturally, I had no experience at all. I didn't really know how to prepare and what to expect, but Weza and his welcoming nature made it very easy for me to feel comfortable. Not only by being open to chat from the start and answer any of my questions even before arriving, but also by always making sure that I felt safe, he was a very good host. He also definitely did a very good job in introducing me to Arusha, as he accompanied me in going to museums or the supermarket until I knew how to get there myself via the tuktuks.

2. The school
I love the vision that Weza has for his school, and how ambitious he is in making it a reality. You can feel how strongly the kids are profiting from this. Seeing the effort being put into providing them with a solid education left me amazed and made every day between 9am and 1pm (the main working time), where I assisted in teaching English most of the time, so much fun. And of course the kids are adorable (and so smart!).
However, if you're a volunteer thinking about coming here, you should have a rough idea of how you can help specifically, as you'll decide yourself how to contribute (Weza will require nothing specific of you, which really leaves you with a lot of freedom).
Engaging in the football program was fantastic as well. It took place Wednesday through Friday from 5pm to 7pm and provided me with yet another perspective on Tanzanian life, as I dealt with older kids here (11-17 years). And even though the pitch was a bit dusty, the enthusiasm of the players made it very memorable.

3. The culture
Being part of an actual Tanzanian family will teach you more about how they live than anything else, I would say. The constant music coming from the TV, the short prayers before eating, the local food (although you probably won't like everything, which then again makes it interesting), the warmth that both Weza and his wife radiate: all of these things were special. The relaxed approach to life is very different to the European approach I was used to, but soon after getting used to it you might not want to have it any other way. Still, thinking about the activities I wanted to do on the weekends proved helpful for me, as there are no fixed plans incorporated into the weekends of a Tanzanian family other than going to church on Sunday (but it's not mandatory to attend this either).

For other volunteers that are interested in staying here and want to know what to do in their free time, I'd definitely recommend going on a safari (make sure to visit Ngorongoro crater), as well as visiting the waterfalls in Arusha and the Kikuletwa Hot Spring close to Moshi. Especially the safari was absolutely stunning. Weza also helped me in organising all of my trips and even drove me to Moshi, which was really nice.

And so I'm only left with thanking you Weza, for you gave me the opportunity to be a part of your mission.
I wish you all the best and I can only hope I'll be able to visit again sometime.
