My name is Francis, born and bred in Singapore for the past 58 years. I am a school teacher with 28 years of experience in teaching Secondary school students (ages 13 to 16). I taught PE initially for about 8 years, followed by Biology & Science for 20 years to prepare my students for the GCE 'O' Level examinations.

I enjoy travelling usually on a solo basis during school vacations, meeting locals and staying with them whenever the opportunity arises (eg Couchsurfing). The experiences gained from such encounters are memorable. I have also hosted world travellers when they stopover in my country for a few days, and I have maintained contact with some and even visited them in their countries!

I have just retired from teaching, and signing up with Workaway for volunteer work will be a stepping stone to an exciting new phase of my life. I can teach Science, and also help you improve your conversational English.

I enjoy nature, photography and play a mean game of badminton, chess and mahjong. I am a certified SCUBA diver and possess a driver's license for car and motorcycle. I keep cats (one at a time) since 20 years ago and maintain a small collection of ornamental plants in my apartment. Basically, I enjoy being surrounded by nature.

I would like to pick up new skills along the way so I can contribute to others in a greater capacity in the future.

My first Workaway experience in Indonesia (Central Java) was excellent, and I am looking forward to the next one!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have a Degree in Biology and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education.
I possess a SCUBA diver (advance) certification with about 200 dive hours.
I can drive a manual car and motorcycle and have a license for them.

I can teach Biology and Science to secondary school students. I can teach Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to students and teachers.

I speak fluent English. It is my country's first language and we instruct our students in this medium. I am able to help improve conversational English at all levels, and help out as an assistant classroom teacher if given the guidance and resources.

I can also teach you how to play the game of Mahjong!
