Hi! I'm Francis and I'm a student from the UK looking to spend some time overseas this summer. I am new to Workaway but I'm interested in exploring new cultures and meeting new people while developing my language skills!

I enjoy going out, chatting and sharing stories. I love being outdoors and often take my dog for walks in the Peak District, so I am equally comfortable living in rural or city settings.

Currently I am studying Economics at the University of Cambridge, where I particularly enjoy meeting new people and trying new things. I have recently taken up tennis, although I like to play lots of different sports, especially football (where I represent my college) and table-tennis.

My favourite topics to talk about are politics, film and travel, although I am happy to talk about anything. I am excited by travelling and some of my favourite places that I have visited are Porto, Budapest and Granada. Last summer I explored Southern/ Eastern Europe when I went inter-railing with a few friends. This summer I hope to gain some exciting new experiences.

I would love to teach or help out with English language skills wherever it is needed. I am keenly interested in Spanish and have studied it throughout school and university, so that I can speak to an advanced level. I am also very interested in French and I am taking extra modules at university to develop my language skills.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am happy to help with physical tasks, in the garden or around the house. I regularly help my mum out in the garden, including trimming hedges, mowing the lawn, planting and watering.

I am more than happy to help with English if it is wanted, and I have experience tutoring younger students in Maths, Science and English Language.

I have grown up around animals my whole life, including cats and dogs, so I would be comfortable carrying out any pet-related responsibilities.

I have experience volunteering as a youth leader for three years with Beaver Scouts (7-8 years old), which involved teaching practical skills, leading activities and preparing equipment. Also, I have worked in a café where I learned new responsibilities, such as preparing food, operating the till and serving customers.

Most importantly, I am happy to learn new responsibilities and skills. I consider myself to be versatile/adaptable and I enjoy taking on unfamiliar tasks!
