We're part way through our traveling adventure and so far have spent time in Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua. We love the beach, family time and practising our (ever improving) Spanish!

Description

Hello, we're Faye and Alex from Cornwall, UK, joined by our sons Luka (19) and Paolo (13). In 2023, we embarked on a family adventure to Central America, where we all flew out together. Luka has pursued his own volunteer placements and has now returned to the UK. Meanwhile, we've continued our journey, and we are currently on our third work exchange on Ometepe Island in Nicaragua.

Our experiences in Central America so far include working at a lakeside hostel in Guatemala, where we rebuilt their website, redesigned their menus and managed the social media. Following that, we went on to dog, house and turtle (!) sitting in El Salvador at a remote beach. In Nicaragua, our current placement involves assisting with the introduction of new systems and processes, along with managing social media strategy and delivery.

Motivated to step outside our comfort zone, we've rented out our home in Cornwall, exposing Paolo to a different path and fostering a global perspective and life skills beyond conventional education. Paolo has been a key part of our work exchange placements to date, helping with hospitality and assisting in a local school alongside learning from all of the tasks we have been undertaking.

Our professional backgrounds include senior roles in marketing, social media, business management, strategy, operations, customer service, sales, and website management. We're versatile, quick learners ready to contribute to various tasks, from business operations to hands-on work like cleaning and gardening. Our age and experience sets us apart from many volunteers, something which is reflected in the quality of references we can provide.

Paolo is an avid learner who enjoys water sports, reading, and embracing new adventures.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Having both recently left senior roles, we bring a wealth of experience in marketing, social media, operations, customer service, systems and processes, business strategy, and running businesses. Our skills also extend to managing spreadsheets, budgets, scaling, and, more recently, hospitality.

Beyond our professional expertise, we are quick learners with a keen eye for detail, creative thinkers, and adept problem solvers. Though not designers, our attention to detail and strong sense of design means we can turn our hands to design work when needed.
