Hello ! I'm Eloïse, i'm 23 years old, i just finished my studies of wine & spirit in Champagne.
This year i get a take off to know new people and discover other cultures, countries but also to volunteer and get involved in different activities.
Generally i am adventurous, curious, positive and optimist person. I can enjoy myself doing many different things. I love cooking, music, sports, nature, share a good meal and exchanging on life.
I want to grow by living life authentically and learn from it through these wonderful experiences.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
With a degree in restaurant management, i gained solid experience in various gastronomic establishments where i took responsibility for managing teams composed of several clerks. My role also included advised, sold and served wines and spirits, as well as participating in the careful management of the winery, which had over 500 references

I have been actively involved in variety of tasks including picking fruits, vegetables and flowers. I also took pleasure in contributing to the cultivation of the vine with different winemakers, who distinguished themselves by their respect for the lunar calendar and their use of various herbal teas to strenghten the links between the soil and the vine.

My affection for animals has led me to devote time to their company. I had the opportunity to take care of different dogs and cats through platforms such as Rover.

I performed baby-sitting missions for knowledge and friends.

Generally i adapt easily to the various situations that arise to me, i like to work hard.

About the location, Tamba Sasayama is located one hour from Kyoto and Osaka, in the middle of the mountains. Tamba Sasayama is a pretty traditional town with many emblematic products (kuramame, wild boar, etc.). There are several small cafés with character where you can enjoy some delicious pastries.

What an incredible place. Sven (the owner) made everything by hand in this place. From the entire lodges to the door handles, there are so many details hiden in the trees, in the rooms or in the buildings. Even after staying 2 months, we were still discovering new details.… read more Speaking of the place, we felt like we were in a cocoon in the middle of the forest. Karasjok is a very special place in Sami land. At first, we felt we were on foreign soil, as if we were borrowing someone else's land. Then, after many encounters with the locals, we found them to be very hospitable and welcoming to their sacred lands, and always willing to share their culture and help others. However, living in the middle of the forest can be oppressive for some. You don't come here by chance, it's not for everyone.

This was our first experience with dogs. We literally fell in love with these animals and it was very hard for us to leave them after 2 months of shared life. We learned an enormous amount about the musher lifestyle and dog training. It's a unique experience that I'd recommend anyone to have at least once. It helps us understand that these beings are just as complex and singular as humans.

More broadly, about the daily work, I would say that the big advantage of this place is its diversity of daily missions:
- cabin cleaning
- preparing breakfast and dinner in a professional kitchen
- cleaning the dogyard and feeding the dogs (daily task, even on christmas, no day off for dogs)
- participating in puppy training
- making neck lines and dog lifelines
- many other small tasks...

We worked 5 hours a day with one day off a week, but have been invested in the dogs on a daily basis, which have to be considered in addition to the daily working hours.

In our free time, we also had the opportunity to take part in daytrips with the dogs. We were free to use the workshop to create and be inspired by the different creations around the place. There are also many wonderful hikes and walks around the lodges that are well worth contemplating.

During the season, we worked with a team of 3 handlers. The work went very smoothly, and the team is very understanding and friendly. We even made friends with one of them. We also had the opportunity to meet and talk to some of the ski touring guides who work closely with Sven.

In short, an unforgettable experience that instilled in us a love of dogs and life in the wild north of the Arctic Circle. I'd say a place like this has to be earned.

Thank you Sven for giving us the opportunity to work alongside you in this place you created from scratch.
