Hello how are you?

My name is Elías Botero, I greet you from the Andes mountains of Colombia.

Passionate about working with rural communities, I have built my professional experience around strengthening community tourism in the most remote areas of my country, I believe in travel and its transformative power. I have more than 5 years of experience promoting tourism as a strategy for conserving biodiversity and the culture of my country.

As a child I grew up with a love of the countryside, my family has grown coffee from generation to generation, we currently have our own coffee business. I like learning and working with sustainable production systems to build a better and more equal world.

I am looking to take a trip around the world that allows me to get to know myself a little better, explore new cultures, learn new languages, collect tools to continue building a better world. In me you can find a person with a lot of strength to work. I am a very proactive and practical person, I also always seek to have very good relationships with the people around me.

Help me build this journey that I want to undertake, surely I can also help you for your projects.


PS, my English level is intermediate, I can communicate easily. My first challenge on this great trip is to improve my English.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

My greatest skills are organizing and systematizing. I have the ability to learn new things quickly and I am also passionate about undertaking new projects. I am a person committed to my responsibilities, I mainly like working with the land such as planting and harvesting, however I can support you in different tasks. My greatest ability is to be a methodological person, this allows me to adapt easily and each time I get better at what I do.

I have worked in the field on my parents' farm, where I have supported restoration processes. I like physical and outdoor activities. I have worked in planting and harvesting processes. I have been a tourist guide in the National Parks of Colombia, and I would love to work on ecological projects.
I have no knowledge of permaculture, but it is a subject that I have always been passionate about, I would love to learn. If there is something to do or a pending activity, I am not the type of person who is lazy.

Like I said, I work in community tourism. In the future, I want to make my own travel company a reality that will transform lives and at the same time support the sustainable production systems of the most vulnerable local communities in my country. I believe in the trip as a path of transformation and self-awareness. This trip that I want to undertake is not simply an experience, it is a need that I have to connect with different cultures and learn from them, and then return to the country and continue working for community tourism from a broader perspective.
