Description

We are Ela & Sam - two travellers from Berlin, Germany. We are taking our time and try to travel slow to better learn ourselves, the people and the cultures we encounter as well as to limit the toll our travels take on the planet. Workaway helps us with that, while we help our hosts with the following:
- Language skills | Both of us are fluent German & English speakers in both professional and casual environments. Sam’s a native German and Ela’s a native Russian speaker. Sam possesses good basics of French, Ela contributes with the very basics of Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.
- Cooking skills | Both are good cooks with go-to recipes from a range of cuisines, always ready to improvise and able to feed a crowd in limited time. Sam’s go-to: mushroom risotto, sage pasta, grilled vegetables. Ela’s go-to: curries, veggie oven roast, carrot cake, banana bread. Some time ago, Sam worked as a bartender and can still prepare a refreshing beverage for any person.
- Childcare skills | Sam used to work in a German kindergarten and has experience as a school tutor. Ela has experience in language tutoring. Both enjoy interacting with children.
- Pet skills | Both Ela and Sam are fond of animals, knowing first-hand how to take care of cats & dogs & willing to learn how to tend to other animals. Both are interested in botany & zoology, particularly lepidopterology.
- Media skills | Sam’s background in creative writing and Ela’s professional marketing past result in solid skills of text writing, video editing & creation of visuals.
- DIY skills | Ela has experience in interior design, Sam has a trained eye for decoration and art objects. Ela accomplishes all handiwork in her own home herself (hanging basic light fixture, installing a washing machine or a glass wall for a shower) and loves to assemble furniture.
- Most importantly | Ela and Sam are fast learners and transparent communicators motivated to get to know the world around them.
