Almost one year ago we said goodbye to our 9-5 jobs and busy city life, in search of a different way of living, more aligned with ourselves and the beautiful nature around us. This journey began by traveling and volunteering for 8 months in Central America. Though we loved Central America, we both felt that this was for now not the place to create this dream. Yet through these experiences we learned a lot and met many people who aspire the same lifestyle as us. Through the work and conversations we had, we created a clearer image on what our dream would look like: being part of a community in which growing your own food in a sustainable way is combined with connecting with ourselves and others, through different mindfulness and holistic practices. Therefore we went back to Europe, looking for places where we can learn and create together with likeminded people.

Enough about our hopes and dreams,(because we can talk about this for hours). We can imagine you would love to know a bit more about the people behind these dreams. We are Ymke and David, a couple who are both 26 years old from the Netherlands. David is someone who is eager to learn and invested in doing it the right way, his enthusiasm quickly spreads to other people. Moreover he has a background in sustainability and biodiversity science and has worked the past months as a gardener. Ymke is a very warm person, who will always give you a helping hand or comforting words if needed. On top of that she has a background in graphic design and worked as a handywoman and event organizer at a sustainable venue. We are both hands-on learners, always happy to get our hands dirty. We are team players, yet also used to work on tasks and projects independently. Our past volunteering experiences taught us more about permaculture, food forests, fermentation, and organizing and creating sustainable and holistic events and venues.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Ymke has an education and working experience in both graphic design/multimedia management and in social work. She is good at organizing events, Adobe skills, social media management, DIY building activities and generating creative ideas in general. On top of that, she is an amazing cook.

David has an education in Environmental Sciences and is specialised in biodiversity management and renewable energy. He has worked as a project manager, for which he is well-organised and good at think out long term projects. He is great at generating and applying sustainable eco-friendly ideas.

Both of us have a hands-on mentality and are eager to learn new skills.
