About us: Davi & David
Hi there! We are Davi (36) and David (41), currently living in Cerdanya, a beautiful region in the Catalan Pyrenees. Davi estudied Biology (fauna and flora) and David Economics, however, we both now work as firefighters.

We are on workaway because we believe that to truly know a country, you have to go beyond the typical tourist spots and highlights. For us, real travel is about connecting with local people, understanding their culture, and sharing their way of life.

Our dream is to eventually find a piece of land to build our own little haven—living surrounded by nature and becoming as self-sufficient as possible (growing our own food, collecting rainwater, using solar power, etc.).

Even though we haven't found our dream plot yet, we are already walking the path! We currently manage a small garden using regenerative agriculture techniques, make our own compost, and preserve our harvests. We create our own natural cosmetics and soaps, practice regular terapeutic sunbaths (all year), and embrace the healing power of nature with medicinal plants.

We love DIY and hands-on projects! We recently built a composter using recycled wood, and our next project is building a solar food dehydrator to preserve our organic produce for the winter. We are also active members of Llavors del Cadí, a local seed-saving initiative working to preserve native vegetable varieties.

We care deeply about the common good, both socially and economically, and we naturally reflect on the world around us. Sometimes we have unconventional ideas, but we love seeking the deeper meaning of things and understanding human behavior. We deeply respect all perspectives and love open-minded discussions—to us, a different opinion is a gift that helps us grow. Philosophical chats over a meal are always welcome!

A bit about our backgrounds & passions:

Davi studied Biology (specializing in flora and fauna) and has done extensive volunteering in Kenya, South Africa, and Peru. She was also an active Couchsurfing host for years, welcoming travelers into her home. On joint projects, Davi brings the initiating spark, energy, and execution!

David studied Design and Busines Administration. He is a passionate cyclist and spent years traveling the world working for an active bike travel company. He is also into paraglading and skimo in wither. In our projects, David brings patience, precision, and focus—especially when precise measurements and tricky technical tasks are involved! Even our academical backgrounds we both work now as Firefighters.

Together, we make a balanced and practical team that blends energy, creativity, and careful execution.

When we're not working on projects, we enjoy cycling, hiking, moments of quiet reading, and listening to good music.

Why Portugal?
For this journey to Portugal, we want to learn the language and connect with like-minded individuals, families and projects. We want to gain insights into different off-grid lifestyles and homesteading ideas while offering a helping hand.

We are active, hard-working, positive, and enthusiastic people. It will be a true pleasure to contribute our potential, energy, and skills to help with your local project!

Gardening & Agriculture: Regenerative organic gardening, weeding, planting, composting, and soil care.

Homesteading & Crafting: Food preservation (canning & dehydrating), healthy cooking, natural soap making, and working with medicinal herbs.

Animal Care: Comfortable helping with livestock, farm animals, and household pets.

Languages: Native Catalan & Spanish, conversational English, and motivated to learn Portuguese!

We travel in our camper van, so if space is limited or for shorter stays, you don't even need to offer us a room—just a place to park is more than enough for us!
We really enjoy connecting with our hosts, so we'd love to share the occasional meal together whenever it fits your routine, just to chat and get to know each other. If that’s not possible on certain days, no worries at all—we are fully self-sufficient and happy to cook in our van.
