Description
This is my first time using Workaway, and I'm so excited about it. I recently quit my job to travel, but instead of constantly travelling place to place, I love when I can stay in 1 place, feel like a local, make real connections and truly enjoy the area. I love nature, meeting new people, and helping others, so Workaway feels like the perfect fit for this journey. I’m looking forward to the connections and experiences ahead!

Teaching English has been a passion of mine, as it allows me to give back and make a meaningful impact. I’ve had the privilege of teaching children in Cambodia, and teaching English online to people across the world. This passion and experience can be incredibly useful during my volunteering time with Workaway.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I’ve worked in marketing roles for many years, so I’m happy to help with any marketing-related tasks if needed. I’m experienced in being the main point of contact, assisting with information, and ensuring everything runs smoothly. My strengths also lie in customer service, so I’m comfortable interacting with people and providing support. I enjoy using social media and doing photography also although not an expert!

I also enjoy painting and would be glad to contribute artistically if it’s helpful— happy to share photos of my work! Additionally, I love working with animals and children. I have plenty of experience volunteering with kids, including teaching, au pairing, and babysitting.

Overall, I’m very friendly, approachable, and eager to learn. I’m ready to dive in and help wherever I can!

I love swimming, exploring new places, and meeting new people. I also enjoy playing ball games like volleyball, netball, and basketball, though I’m not very good—it's all about the fun for me! I’m a fan of card games and board games, and I especially enjoy playing group games like Mafia and Spoons. These activities are always a great way to connect with others and have a good time!

This is the best Workaway experience I have had so far. I was able to experience everything I wanted and more, I could give back to the community, experience life with Indonesian locals, learn their ways and their culture, see beautiful spots, and all away from tourists.

Ari took me to cool places every day, like waterfalls, beaches, viewpoints.… read more I feel very lucky for these 2 weeks I spent here, and I miss the family very much. When i look back on my time it brings a tear to my eye! Ari and the family are so respectful, incredibly kind and want to make sure you have the best experience, i really feel like i have another family in Indonesia now. They go out of their way for you to experience the foods, drinks, snacks, traditions and they are very curious about you and your life. We never ran out of things to talk about and had a lot of deep conversations, but also the home is very chill and easy going, i always felt relaxed there.

Behind the house there is a beautiful view of the mountain and pretty fields i enjoyed walking there in my free time. FYI you will have a lot of free time and there isn't much to do around other than when you teach a little or when Ari takes you out, so it is good to have a hobby and something to keep you busy, for me I studied my PADI theory so it was perfect to have some downtime.

The people in the neighbourhood are also kind, (often looking at you as if they've seen an alien ;)) and excited to speak with you. I loved the little kids that lived nearby, they are adorable. Every day they would come to the house peek into the gate and ask to see me it was the cutest thing. I really enjoyed teaching them, I felt like i was making a difference. It was Ramadan so i only taught a little bit a day in the evening, usually you would teach at the school. Also there is so much food always, delicious fruits and the mum makes amazing Indonesian food. The home was good for me and i had my own simple room with wifi, it was very much like a traditional Indonesian house I believe so expect that the toilet and shower is outside. Also just a note that females are politely asked to cover their head when at the school, was not an issue for me but bear in mind. Also best to dress modestly otherwise you will get a lot of stares. This has been my favourite time in Indonesia and i wish i would rewind time and experience it all again! 100% recommend. Stay open to the new experiences offered, say YES and make the most of everything, you'll find it incredibly rewarding.

Thank you for a wonderful two weeks. The teachers were so kind and helpful, and the children so lovely, especially the younger ones!
