Description
Hi! We are Dan and Emma, a couple from the west coast of Australia. We are currently on a long term trip to wherever it takes us throughout South America. We are both keen to do something a bit different from the usual tourist trail and would like to meet more locals along the way, workaway is a great way to do that. We are learning spanish and are interested in immersing ourselves in the language, but are happy to help with English too. We also enjoy cooking and would love to learn more about cooking in other cultures. We are both keen to learn new skills and help wherever possible. We make plans as we go, so we are very flexible.

Daniel has over 20 years experience running a business in the building and construction industry, and cooks/gardens regularly at home.
Emma is an artist who has been working in the tattoo industry for 12 years, and is always looking to do tattoo work. She also regularly does visual arts, involving acrylic/oil painting, digital art, pencil drawing, is gaining experience with mural painting and spray painting, is a capable sign writer and is always keen to dabble in other media. She also has prior experience in hospitality and filletting fish.

Daniel and I have been together for 13 years going strong and we took a big leap in 2017 and went on a year long trip all over Asia and Europe. It was the best thing we have ever done, so much so that we did another year long trip in 2019 before covid put an end to it. Our time away included 8 workaways and each one was as an amazing experience as the next. Our past workaways include a farmstay, airbnb renovations, pet and house sitting, animal rescue and cooking and taking care of guests at a river lodge. We are excited to add more to the list throughout South America.
We love snorkelling and scuba diving and have both completed our advanced open water certifications in the Philippines.
We also enjoy cooking and would love to learn more about cooking in other cultures. Dan spends a bit of time out in the garden at home and is keen to learn more about self sustainable farming.
We have been self teaching/learning Spanish for a few years now and can't wait to immerse ourselves in Latin America and hopefully become fluent.

Dan & Emma were our very first workaday helpers and they could not have arrived at a better time!
They worked incredibly hard with us during the last few weeks leading up to us opening our B&B, with still so many building, decorating and finishing touches to do in such a short time. They both offered their help willingly for long hours and we… read more reciprocated with offering a stay in our about-to-be-opened high end B&B rooms, as well as cooking Asian influenced home cooked meals and drinks.
They both have a wide range of very useful skills, knowledge and expertise, which they freely share. They are lovely people to work and live with and we greatly enjoyed sharing our home with them, cooking and eating/drinking together and also working very hard in the day time. They are polite, respectful and responsible people who work, contributing their best efforts, as if the work is their own project. Nothing was too much to ask of them and they really made a huge difference to our project at this most critical stage.
They are wonderful company and we were happy to take them out on a few ocassions, showing them around our local area and they were very appreciative of all our efforts to make them feel at home.
Dan was a life saver with his brilliant building and DIY skills and Emma also pitched in and did an amazing job with a wide range of varied decorating and renovation tasks, putting the finishing touches to so many of our rooms, employing her artistic skills and great eye for detail in everything she did. Emma also taught Kyunghee how to fillet fish and Dan ensured that a long list of 'to dos' became a much shorter (and less daunting) list.
It was great to get to know them in such a short time, to hear of their travels and life 'down under', as well as sharing good food, drink and many good times together, despite the high pressure workload we were all under at that time.
It was lovely to have them with us on our opening night, which was made possible, successful and less-stressed with their contributions and great spirit. Thankfully, we managed to arrange that they had some relaxed time at the end of their stay and this enabled them to rest and plan the next stage of their year-long trip in comfort. We hope our paths may cross again.
We are forever in their debt and cannot recommend them highly enough to all other workaday hosts.

Emma and Daniel were incredibly helpful in every way. Both were straightforward, did the work with no fuss or bother, helped me re-organise our animal housing and built an entire aviary while they were here in just two weeks. they were fun and kind to be around. The way you made pasta, the look in your eyes when we came to arctic circle and the smell in the air during swiss cheese fondue. We were glad to have you guys and it has been a fantastic time with you. Everytime again and we really hope to see you back here in the arctic winter for a northern light hunt with the snow-scooter.
