Hi potential hosts!
We are Jade and Dan and are from London. We have been together for 2 and a half years and both decided we wanted to get away from fast paced London life and explore the world, specifically central and South America! Our goal is to travel from Mexico to Brazil in the next 13 months (we are also aware we might find somewhere we love and not quite make it down the whole way)!
We are both massively people persons and love getting to know people, share stories and understand different peoples walks of lives. We have both been described as energetic, excited and curious about the world.
Living in London you can become very used to the idea that to work is to live which is something we both feel strongly against and want to experience other cultures and ways of life.
We love meeting new people and having new experiences. One of our favourite things is to be out of our comfort zone and to learn to new things that we didn’t think were previously possible. We are happy to answer any questions you may have!

Our Spanish has improved a lot since we started travelling and we have attended Spanish school too. We would love to continue learning. In addition, we would also happily exchange English as well.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
We absolutely love animals especially dogs as have both grown up with them and would love to be able to share in getting to know your animals to make home feel a little closer! We also both love cooking and it’s one of our favourite things to make new dishes and cook for others.
Jade skills: My main skills and abilities are people! I am a trained social worker who has worked in inner city London for the last 3 years helping kids involved in criminality. I absolutely loved my job and the ability to form relationships with families and young people and help make changes in their lives. I have recently completed the first year of a therapy course and am very interested in all things psychology, bettering peoples mental health and understanding different views in the world around this. I love working with kids either younger or teenagers and have been doing this for the last 10 years with children with disabilities, young children, children involved in the criminal justice system and children in care. I have babysat a lot when I was younger and am fully dbs/crb checked. My job is very flexible and involves supporting young people with speech and language needs, school work or mental health diagnoses in addition helping children just be children. With my job I met many different people from all walks of lives and professions and thoroughly enjoy meeting new people and problem solving with a solution focused approach. Due to the large amount of paperwork the job involved I am competent at using computers and it issues that arise. In addition, to support myself through education I have had a number of jobs in hospitality such as waitressing and bar work which I loved as it allowed me to meet and socialise with a variety of people. This is something I would be excited to re-new my experience. I am a creative person that has spent a lot of years being nervous about art but recently realised how much I enjoy it and would like to explore this further.
I have previously lived in Swaziland in Southern Africa where I worked with a charity supporting children. I loved getting to be immersed in a new culture and felt I learnt so much from the community. I am able to help support children with curriculums that may initially be unknown to me but happy to get involved and learn quickly.
Dan skills: Before University I worked in a series of different retail, restaurant, and hospitality roles. For example, I worked at several hotels as a server and on reception, this gives me confidence in being able to work in a hospitality setting and be front of house and welcoming. I also understand the basics of running a hotel/hostel and can operate effectively in these environments. I also worked in Residential Support at uni where I worked in Resident Management and organised events such as quizzes. This has given me experience in organising large groups of people and being able to create fun events and entertainment. After university I worked for an International development company in London, where I was head of business development, where I contributed to bringing the company new contracts. I also managed the internship programme and assisted the company to collaborate with other companies and create relationships. My sole responsibility was to contact new experts and build relationships with them. After this I worked in a marketing agency that specialised in employer branding, which helped companies to be more attractive to potential applicants. I worked as a business development executive and I was responsible for drumming up new biz.
From this experience I have gained strong interpersonal & communication skills , Strong customer facing experience and skills with all nationalities and cultures. I am well versed with MS Office 365 Suite, Google Apps Suite and have the Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. I am also good at Problem Solving and have held multiple Leadership roles. I have Meticulous attention to detail, Excellent Organisational skills and Very experienced in working under pressure.
I absolutely love running and go almost every day, this is something I would be happy to support someone in trying out or go on runs with you … animal or human!

We really do want a year of getting to know people getting to know ourselves so even if we don’t have specific experience we would love to learn and get involved.
In addition, we are both very active and love to go hiking, run, do yoga and any form of exercise!
We are used to living together and with others so really enjoy keeping living spaces tidy and clean for us and everyone else!
