I go by Hazel, but Colleen is my legal named. Nice to meet you!

I'm a nature-lover, first and foremost - happiest when surrounded by lots of water, sky, plants and animals. I am constantly implementing ways to reduce my impact on Earth, and learning how to be a better steward of the land. I've spent the last five years living on the road and have a very low carbon footprint. I am enjoying travelling right now, but down the road I hope to buy land somewhere remote and have a regenerative farm with vegetable gardens, fruit forests, natural buildings, and lots of goats, cows, chickens and bees. I am using Workaway as a chance to learn skills in permaculture, bioconstruction, natural medicine and animal caretaking, among other things.

I have participated in five Workaways thus far, in Spain, USA, Peru & Bolivia. I have helped with gardening, harvesting, bioconstruction, building fences, mushroom cultivation, cooking, housekeeping, and general cleaning. I have a strong intuition for working with animals, and in general I learn new skills very quickly. I enjoy swimming and really all activities in the water, hiking, reading, writing (in the process of writing a book), meditation and yoga (currently working on attaining her yoga teacher certification).

I plan to travel to southeast Asia and Australia in January-February 2026, then I will be in the Azores March-August 2026, and hope to find a solid long-term workaway there. Please reach out if you're interested in chatting!
