Hey!
I´m Carmina. Im 28 years old and transforming my life. Born and raised in Mexico, to a Mexican father and British mother; I am fluent in both English, Spanish and German. For the past 5 years I have been living in south Germany. In the past years I have moved from huge cities, to big cities, and live in a tiny city. I have realized that I prefer community based places than the busy life of anonymity of a city. I like cycling, walking, cooking and doing creative projects.
I studied biology because I wanted to feel connected to nature. And it did for a while. But now I see academia is not my path and I want to do something different that can help me feel connected to the world and have hands on projects. One of the classes I most enjoyed during my studies was agroecology; and that has lead me to believe that the hands on approach to nature-human interactions is a path I would like to explore. In the last year I did a yoga teaching course (hatha and vinyasa, although now I am drawn towards yin or restaurative).
I am looking to relearn and discover. I want to learn how to do things with my hands and not just with my brain. I want to learn about sustainable practices, alternative living and nature.
As a hobby I enjoy to ferment; principally vegetables and vinegars. For a while now I have wanted to star making cheese; but without the equipment or space at home I hope to learn with someone with more experience than me. In general I like processing foods and produce.
For the past 5 years I have been studying mushrooms and lichens. If there is the opportunity to work with them I would be very pleased.
I have some experience with goats as I was a sheperd for some time in Spain and I have also worked for a month in a biovegtable farm in Germany. As well as some other odd jobs in sustainable proyects.
I particularly like goats, nuts trees (to make oils and spreads) and chickens. The life style seemed productive and peaceful.
I am sensitive, open and learning to be more direct with my needs.

I am Nik, a 31 years old German. Having had quite some change in my life already I am looking for what experiences actually suit me much more than when I was younger. After journeys and a uni degree I found myself not knowing what my path was supposed to be like. Working through this crisis and after several attempts of finding meaning I ended up as therapist.
The past year I have lived in a Zen centre in the south of Germany where I found an inner basis for further exploration. My interest is directed towards the dynamic of human growth/processes mainly. Futhermore I want to learn Spanish and techniques of sustainable gardening/building.
I have some experience working as carpenter, joiner, and stonemason. Additionally, I have worked on organic farms in France and Germany.
I speak German and English fluently, know some French and am learning Spanish at the moment.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
Im a biologist that has mostly worked in academia, but love being outdoors. For many years now, my area of study has been fungi (yeasts, lichens and mushrooms), I like working with them and learning new applications with them. I have worked a bit with plants and dabbled in medicinal uses. I enjoy the company of animals. For a while I worked in rescuing cats in Mexico City, and later did some cat and dog sitting.
I speak fluent English and Spanish. And get by well in German.
I am creative, like dancing and like to cook. I do lot of fermentation, mainly veggies but also yogurt I would really want to learn to make cheese. I have tried making tofu. I like learning new recipes and am slowly building up a scrap book of my favourites.
When I was younger I used to paint a lot with oil paints. I wouldn´t say I was good, I do really like working with colours. As for dancing, its just such a natural way of expression that joins people together without the need for a common language.
I want to learn to put knowledge into application. I have a lot of theory and I want to practice.

Its hard to put into words the time I have spent with Marco and Yann. It has now been a week and my heart is still in the forest. The words I most heard during my stay were AMAZING and PARADISE, and I think that can sum up quite well my experience. Although nature, lessons, good food, patience and generosity are not far behind
So there are a few… read more points to go though, namely; the place, the people, the work and the community.
THE PLACE: I walk into Eden’s garden (and although there is still a lot to be done to improve, maintain and better, to me it is absolutely wonderful). I enjoyed the end of the summer dipping into the cold Weiher and doing yoga on a truly energetic bridge. I stayed in a bigish tent, and sometimes the neighbour’s horses would come and visit me in the night. There were many nights at the fire or in community. There is a huge diversity of mushrooms in the forest and plenty of plants of interest. I stayed a few nights in the tree house and loved to see the sunrise. The tiny house is cosy
THE PEOPLE: My last day felt like I was leaving a small family we had built in the month and a half I stayed there.
It was very meaning full for me to reconnect with the feeling of wanting to be generous and doing that I do with meditative consciousness, this is something that I learnt with Marco. It was so beautiful and inspiring to be part of such generosity. (Thank you for the great cacao) It was easy to be myself around Marco and feel that I could be respected, something that isn’t always possible in our society. In our interaction I fell into Marco´s world, and it is very special how open he was about his life and interactions with the world. I can feel the influence of Marco in my life now; quality, beauty, generosity, these are things I want in my life and now have more space for them.
I learnt a lot with Yann, about nature, carving, my temper and communication. Yann has prepared some of the best food I ate this year, with good intuition and preparation but also amazing veggies grown with love. I have taken with me some really good recipes or ideas. It was nice to share some mushroom passion, walking in the forest and finding what tastes good or fantastic. Patience and communication was something we both had to learn together, although Yann was the fire and tool master, the human side of the interaction was an eye opener and I am grateful to have learnt with his aspects of my personality.
Maite was often around too. An additional wandering piece to the constellation, it was so easy to love her. Fun, helpful, open, great. I can’t wait to see her again soon. I know I can learn a lot from her.
Here people are honest with their needs and freedoms. In general people are direct, it is very different to my experience with Latin (my) culture. So if you are coming, its good when you to practice communication for your limits and needs.
THE WORK: There is a big diversity of activities to be done. Before I was a complete novice with tools, now well I still have a lot to learn but I had the opportunity of learning with Marco as a patient teacher. We built up a green house, we did some conservations etc. What for me was best about this is that if I was not feeling physical there were other works that I could do like sewing all that was needed to do was to communicate my needs and capacities. It is important to mention that it is definitely important to be respectful of the tools and put them back in the night. There is a value in respecting the spaces and maintaining in the state of things. Its also good to note that its better to take longer and do things right then badly and them having to be done again.
THE COMMUNITY: I was very surprised to be in the forest and there to be so many nice people that came in awe of the beautiful place, also so many friends coming for the best water in town or the many workshops that there were. To me in short what stands out was: massage exchange, pizza party, dance party and of course WAFFEL BREAKFASTS. In my experience often when you come to a project in the woods you often can be rather isolated, and although there were calm days it was not lonely.
More than anything I am thankful to have trusted my intuition and landed in a place that has helped me grow, build friends that I hope to keep and fall in love with a region of Germany I had not heard from before.
I can’t wait to go back either as a friend for a weekend or to stay for longer. <3
