Description

I’m retired and have been living and traveling full-time in my van for almost five years. I prefer warm, sunny places and a slower pace of travel, spending as much time as possible outdoors and away from crowds. When I’m not traveling by van, I enjoy backpacking and traveling light.

I’m an early riser and appreciate quiet surroundings. Most of my free time is spent outdoors—hiking, biking, birdwatching, snorkeling, or simply enjoying nature. I also enjoy reading, board games, cross-stitch, cooking, baking and eating all kinds of foods though I don’t eat a lot of meat. I also enjoy learning about old cultures and visiting ancient places.

I live a minimalist, low-waste lifestyle. I try to reduce, reuse, repair, and recycle whenever possible, and I’m happiest in environments where those things are valued.

I’m naturally independent and tend to spend a fair amount of time on my own. I’m not particularly good at small talk and can be a little socially awkward, although I can also be surprisingly chatty once I’m comfortable. I do best when expectations and schedules are clear. I enjoy being around people when there’s a purpose or shared activity, but I don’t need constant social interaction.

I can help with general maintenance, gardening and outdoor work, cleaning and organizing, pet care and house sitting, and DIY projects, particularly those involving reuse or recycling; using creativity and problem solving. I’m comfortable working independently without much supervision, I don’t shy away from physical work, and I’m always interested in learning something new.

For me, the best arrangements are based on clear expectations, mutual respect, and a reasonable degree of independence.

Gardening, cooking and baking, working with pets and farm animals (love poultry), electrical and construction (built out my van), and a slew of other things. I look forward to learning new things. I love being creative and solving problems.

Love to read, play games, solve puzzles, travel, scuba, snorkeling, hiking, biking; anything outdoors and warm. Not a fan of cold weather (below 70).

While I do work well with others, I do appreciate my alone time.
