Description

We have both worked as Registered Nurses in Australia and the UK for 15+ years, and ran our own small holistic health businesses in Albany, Western Australia. In previous years, we have worked as shop assistants (both paid and voluntary), cleaners and with tourists in Europe. We are currently travelling and volunteering in Australia and Europe, and would love to volunteer at animal sanctuaries and meditation centres. We were registered wildlife carers, mainly rescuing and rehabilitating possums, bandicoots and native birds. We also looked after horses, chickens and goats on previous house sits, and had our own lovely family of rescue dogs, cats, rabbits and a hamster. We previously built and lived in an off-grid house and enjoy gardening and growing veggies. We love to cook and are fit, well and hardworking. We're non-smokers and non-drinkers, prefer a simple, quiet life and love meditating and being in nature. We can supply work, housesitting and online business reviews / references as required.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Gardening / DIY: In 2015 we bought 50 acres of land and had an off-grid house built. We made veggie beds, planted trees, drove and fixed a tractor, and managed the day-to-day issues which go along with this. We are moderately handy (hobby rather than professional) and keen to learn and give anything a go. We are able to use, maintain and clean a chainsaw and both completed a TAFE course in chainsaw safety and maintenance. After moving to a new property, we lived on a quarter acre where we re-wilded the garden, growing fruit, veggies and natives for the local birds, bandicoots, possums and skinks.

Animals: We volunteered with WA Seabird Rescue and Born Free Wildlife Carers in Albany, Western Australia. We cared for and released possums, ducks, native birds, and did "on site" rescues of pelicans (capturing and untangling fishing line before re-release). As house sitters in the past we have cared for horses, goats, chickens, cats, dogs and fish. We have had our own family of rescue dogs, cats, rabbits and a hamster. We have followed a vegan lifestyle for 13 years and have volunteered for an animal support op shop and the Animal Justice Party, and enjoy gardening to encourage wildlife.

Other: We meditate regularly and love to read and learn about Buddhism and follow Buddhist practices. We both enjoy exercising, reading, cooking, and would love to work with rescue animals and meet new like-minded people. Becki paints, often to promote animal charities, and Darren writes. Darren worked as a Registered Mental Health Nurse for 15 years, and Becki worked as a Registered Nurse with specialities in palliative care, women's health and theatre recovery for over 20 years . Darren is also a qualified remedial massage therapist and ran his own business, and Becki is trained in reflexology, Indian head massage and Reiki, and also worked for herself.
