  • Description

    Hello, I'm Azura!

I started my travels in February this year, so I'm currently four months in. So far I have made my way from Australia through the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Maldives, London, Menorca, Spain and now Portugal. The experience has been truly incredible!

Before travelling, I spent four years as a speech pathologist, nanny and mother's help. I still consult part-time for two speech pathology practices back in Australia and complete flexible hours each week which has worked well around my travels.

I consider myself a creative, hands-on person by nature and believe that I show up wherever I am with genuine enthusiasm and care. Whether that's caring for children, deep cleaning a basement, weeding a garden, or painting a room. I love making spaces feel beautiful and organised, and volunteering throughout my travels has been deeply rewarding and some of my most memorable experiences so far.

I love spending time in nature (both mountains and the beach), being around animals, cooking, trying new things and learning. I spend a lot of time reading or listening to podcasts and I also love music. Health, wellbeing and spirituality have become incredibly important parts of my life. Mornings are my favourite as this is time I dedicate to myself to ensure each day I can give the best version of myself! When I'm in a good flow you'll find me up at sunrise meditating, journaling or stretching.

I love meeting and connecting with people from all walks of life! I prefer not to drink and would much rather share a meaningful conversation over a tea, I think I've turned into a bit of a Nana haha. I eat gluten-free and sugar-free when I can as I feel so much better for it! I'm always more than happy to make accommodations and provide alternatives as I've had years of experience making creative and easy adaptations!

I consider myself easy to live with, a great communicator, and a calm, positive energy to be around. I genuinely enjoy sharing spaces with others as it fills up my cup. I also love my own company, so it tends to be a nice balance.

Plus de détails sur les langues qui m'intéressent
I'm really interested in languages and it's something I'd love to invest more time in! I'm completing my TEFL certification so I can teach English internationally, and my speech pathology background means I have a solid understanding of how language and communication develops. I'd love any opportunity to teach or tutor throughout my travels. I'm also self-learning Spanish but would love to invest in a course down the track!

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I've spent four years working as a speech pathologist, nanny and mother's help, so childcare, household management and working with people is a strength of mine. In my speech pathology career I worked primarily with children of all neurotypes, supporting their development and working closely with families. I also stepped into a practice manager role for a year and have continued to support my team from afar, so I'm comfortable with organisation, admin and leading a small team.

As a mother's help, I supported families by taking some of the mental load by meal prepping, cleaning, organising, doing school runs, caring for little ones and making sure the week ran smoothly.

I'm currently completing my 120-hour TEFL certification online, with the goal of teaching English internationally. I would love to put it to use over the next few months of my travels, whether that's with kids, adults or community groups!

On the creative and practical side, I bake and cook (mostly gluten-free friendly!), sew, paint (I'm trying to learn watercolour) and love any kind of beautifying or organising project. I love finding a system, for some reason it's deeply satisfying for me!
Occasionally I would spend some of my weekends moving furniture around and organising just because it brought me so much joy haha.

My three workaways so far have taken me from packing up a family home in Menorca, to landscaping a spiritual retreat in the Sierra Nevada mountains, to renovating an Airbnb apartment in Portugal. I'm not afraid of physical work and have participated in some hardcore weeding, painting, heavy lifting and deep cleaning!

I speak English fluently and I'm learning Spanish! I've been loving learning from the Coffee Break podcast, although I've just switched over to Portuguese whilst I'm here!

  • Autres infos...

Outside of work and volunteering, I love Pilates, yoga, walks along the beach and spending time in the ocean. I grew up surfing in Australia but I think my fear of sharks got the better of me. I can do spiders and snakes but not sharks haha.

I’m also a snowboarder. I was lucky enough to snowboard most years growing up in Australia and snowboarded in Japan in 2020. Canada or the Swiss Alps are on my bucket list!

Health and wellness are a big passion of mine. I grew up spending a lot of time with naturopaths and kinesiologists and have always been drawn to natural ways of supporting the body. I’m really interested in Ayurveda and would love to learn more throughout my travels.

I love thrifting and upcycling projects. I also love astrology and pulling tarot with friends. I’m really interested in exploring sound healing and other alternative modalities when the opportunity arises.

I’ve been travelling with my camera and have loved photographing and documenting my journey.
