Description
Hei I'm Azul (means Blue in Spanish) :) Originally from Argentina, though I have been calling Wales, in the UK, my home for the last 20 years!
I have now been travelling since 2023, first through the Balkans, then in Turkey, Thailand and VIetnam and the last 2 years I've spent in Australia. Absolutely love every country I've been to, for different reasons.
In this next season of my life (once I leave Aussie) I'm looking to continue connecting with nature and the locals of the places I visit or call home during my travels. I really thrive when near the sea or a body of water; somewhere where I can watch the sunset and walk in the woods.
I've got lot of interest and skills: I'd love to spend some time gardening, building, learning about growing your own food, particularly keen to learn about sustainability and permaculture. I love animals be it caring for them or admiring from afar. In the past I have cared for cats, dogs, hens, fish, rabbits and goats.
Whilst in Australia, I'm particularly interested in learning more about the different mob and Country I visit and their history and culture.
My travels have been a welcome break as I really needed to unwind and prioritise my health and well-being after many years working fast paced jobs whilst also been crawling out of chronic migraine. My shift out of chronicity has been focusing on improving my sleep, working on my breath, connecting to nature, and enjoying sunset sea swims and movement.
I've learnt a lot about migraine, the stigma of chronic invisible illnesses and the power of the body and mindset to improve health and feel like I've incubating lots of ideas on how to share that with others. I just need time and space in an inspiring environment to create (preferably somewhere close to nature and culture).
I'm happy to try my hand at things even if I've never done before, and I'm glad to report that the croatian one wasn't the only patio roof I built in 2023! :) -

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I've been done all sorts in my working life. I've taught Spanish and English to kids, young people and adults. I've worked in play schemes for kids. I've worked as front of house in hostels and worked in bars and restaurants as well as in housekeeping. I've done translation work. I've also been in the civil service and worked as project manager, event manager, analyst (business and data), emergency and crisis response with knowledge of auditing and reporting. I'm also working towards my accreditation as a Service Design Practitioner (applying user-centred design to services and policy-making) and learning to code (fullstack).
During my travels in the European summer, I completed my first workaway in a eco-retreat in a Croatian island. We weren't able to do the originally planned tasks due to lack of extra hands but I ended up helping:
* repaint the host's wooden cabin (sanding, cleaning and painting slat by slat);
*helped her build a roof for the cabin's deck (peeling the bark off the tree posts, sanding them down with the angle grinder and then building the roof with them)
* pruned the olive trees
* refurbed some furniture
* helped in the permaculture garden and with the hens
During my time in Australia I spent 3 weeks at an eco-village in the Sunshine Coast hinterland helping out with a variety of tasks:
* looked after 9 goats (saying hello and cleaning their enclosure every morning, gathering grazing leaves and putting out hay)
* cooked vegetarian lunch every day and sometimes dinner too
* indoor and outdoor painting projects (kitchen and outside fence)
* tiled an outdoor shower including grouting
* harvested mandarines and veggies regularly for food
* various gardening tasks (weeding, mulching, planting, watering, pruning)
* cleaning and housekeeping tasks around the house & rental accommodation
*watched the wild kangaroos and wallabies feed from the garden every sunset :) (Ok, that wasn't a task but I sure enjoyed closing my day doing that!!) :D
I'm happy to try my hand at things even if I've never done it before, and I'm glad to report that the croatian one wasn't the only patio roof I've built in 2023! :) -
