Hi! I’m Blake, currently studying a Master’s in Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Iceland 🌿
Originally from the U.S. (and currently living in Iceland), I’ve always been drawn to travel, nature, and meaningful experiences that push me outside of my comfort zone. I studied abroad in Luleå, Sweden for a year, which completely changed my perspective on life and set me on the path I’m on now. Since then, I’ve returned to the Nordic region to continue building a life more connected to the environment and to hands-on, real-world learning.
I’ve had several volunteer experiences over the years, including multiple WWOOF stays in Alaska and Puerto Rico, as well as a Workaway experience here in Iceland. These have been some of the most rewarding and transformative experiences I’ve had, and they’ve helped me develop a strong work ethic, adaptability, and appreciation for different ways of living.
I’m someone who genuinely enjoys contributing and staying active. I’m happy doing physical work outdoors, helping with daily routines, or just jumping in wherever I’m needed. At the same time, I’m easygoing, respectful, and enjoy good conversations, shared meals, and getting to know the people around me.
Some of the things I can help with include:
General maintenance and cleaning
Cooking and meal prep
Painting and basic carpentry
Animal care
Outdoor work and farm tasks
Technical help (websites, troubleshooting, digital setup)
I’m especially interested in opportunities related to sustainability, farming, and nature-based living, but I’m open to a variety of experiences. For me, it’s not just about the work, but about learning, connecting, and being part of something meaningful.
