Description

Hi, we're Alan and Aukse. We are both 30 years old and until recently lived in London. We felt we needed a change and so converted Alan's work van into a camper van and are now travelling Spain. Alan is a carpenter/joiner with plenty experience in construction/events/off-grid projects/furniture. Aukse is a yoga teacher with a background in fine arts, gardening and passion for plants and animals, although for the last couple of years has she has been trapped behind a desk and is finally free!

We also co-own a small piece of land in the mountains of Asturias with some family and friends and one day want to make it into a permaculture paradise and possibly a retreat/learning/workshop space. On this trip we want to meet like minded people who are doing similar things and learn from them. We particularly want to learn and hear from people who have used eco-building methods such as clay/adobe/straw-bale. We are also interested in house sitting and animal care.

We consider ourselves, thoughtful, respectful, fun loving, hard-working and open minded people. We treat others how we wish to be treated and do not tolerate any form of racism, sexism, bigotry or prejudice.

We are excited to be on this adventure and are looking forward to meeting some interesting people to learn from and share ideas with :)

Alan speaks English and Spanish, a little French and a little Portuguese and is currently learning Lithuanian. Happy to teach English or Spanish and is qualified to do so. Aukse Speaks Lithuanian and English and is happy to help anyone who wants to practice either of them. She is currently learning Spanish and would really appreciate any help you can offer with this!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Alan: For the last five years I have been working as a carpenter, mostly in and around London. I also have a fair amount of experience working on off-grid/eco construction projects. I have a reasonable understanding of 12v and 24v set-ups and can do basic wiring of these systems. I can design and make furniture. I have some broader construction and landscaping experience. Before learning carpentry I lived in South America for three years teaching English, which I loved and would like to do more of one day.

Aukse: This year I completed my 200hr Yoga teacher training and began teaching a small group class. I'm excited to continue to learn more and share yoga with others. For the last few years I have been making a living as an admissions officer at a university in London. I'm a very organised person and this work came naturally to me however it did not fulfil me. I'm very good with admin, a natural with computers, have great customer service and communication skills. But things that excite me and make me the most happy have always been connected with nature. I have good knowledge of plants, gardening, growing food, seed saving, sustainability and foraging. In my spare time I've helped organise some community events in London as well as creating signs and decorations. I'm very excited to be starting a new chapter living more true to my interests, spending time outdoors, getting in touch with my creative side again and finding meaning in the things we do.
