🌍 Hi everyone!
We’re Anna and Sofia, a 26-year-old couple from Rome, Italy. We are both psychologists and neuroscience researchers, and we met four years ago at university.
Our personalities and careers make us reflective and introspective, but we’re also curious about exploring the world and building meaningful connections. We believe that every encounter is an opportunity to grow, discover new cultures, ideas, and ways of living.
Being close to nature is essential to us—it helps us reconnect with ourselves and find peace. In our free time, we love immersing ourselves in nature, exploring, and learning new skills related to gardening, farming, and crafts.

👧 Working with Children

We genuinely enjoy spending time with children.
Anna worked as a babysitter for six years, taking care of kids of all ages, from newborns to teenagers. She has a patient and creative approach based on gentle education. She has also worked as a psychologist with young people facing behavioral challenges and volunteered in an orphanage in Korogocho, Kenya, where she taught science to elementary school children.
Sofia has experience as a scout and summer camp leader, organizing activities for children and teenagers. She has worked in hospitals with kids aged 2 to 10 and currently tutors a young person with learning and social difficulties.


🌳 Nature

Sofia helps her father care for a vegetable garden and fruit trees at their family home on the outskirts of Rome.
Anna gained hands-on experience with farming and caring for farm animals during a Workaway stay in Corsica.
Together, we take care of a small vineyard belonging to friends, producing homemade wine. We love spending time in nature, sleeping under the stars while camping, or traveling in Sofia’s campervan.

🐾 Animals

Sofia has two dogs and extensive experience volunteering at animal shelters, focusing on rehabilitating traumatized dogs. She is a canine educator with a deep understanding of dog behavior.
Anna has a soft spot for animals and, during her Workaway experiences, took care of donkeys and chickens. In Rome, she often petsits cats for friends. 


🎨 Hobbies


Sofia is a passionate athlete. She played basketball for many years and is now an excellent tennis player. She loves reading, hiking, and outdoor adventures. One of her favorite experiences was the "Briganti Trail" in Abbruzzo.
Anna has a lifelong love for cinema, inspired by her parents’ work in the film industry. She plays the accordion and practiced figure skating. Volunteering is another passion, and she’s spent significant time contributing in both Africa and Italy. 


💡 Values

We are involved in GASP, an anti-fascist association that organizes events to support the local community. On weekends, we often take part in their events, such as the farmers' market. Additionally, we are people who strongly believe in our values and ideals, and we frequently participate in demonstrations and events aligned with them.

🌊 The Sea

The sea holds a special place in our lives. Sofia grew up in Ostia, a seaside town near Rome, while Anna loves water sports like paddleboarding. During summer weekends, we often escape to the coast, finding inspiration and peace in its vastness.

✈️ Travel

We both love traveling and discovering new cultures. Last summer, we visited Guatemala, where we embraced the slow and authentic rhythm of local life. In the past, we’ve both participated in Erasmus programs in Spain: Anna in Madrid and Sofia in Santiago de Compostela and Almería.
One destination we dream of rediscovering is Greece. We’ve both been there before and fell in love with its landscapes, history, architecture, and cuisine.
Anna has visited Athens and the islands of Lipsi and Sifnos.
Sofia explored the Dodecanese archipelago on a sailing trip.
Greece gave us a profound sense of peace with its crystal-clear waters, breathtaking landscapes, and ancient cultural charm. Returning to Greece through Workaway would allow us to experience the country in a deeper, more authentic way by immersing ourselves in the local community.

Sofia sees Workaway as the perfect opportunity to connect with new people, learn from diverse cultures, and contribute with enthusiasm and curiosity. She’s ready to give her all in every experience, whether it’s a practical task or a shared adventure. 
Anna already has Workaway experience, having worked on a farm in Corsica, where she cared for animals, tended to the garden, and helped with hospitality. She’s eager to embark on a new journey, discover new places, and cross paths with inspiring people.
We’re excited to begin this new adventure and offer our energy, creativity, and passion!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

We are Anna and Sofia, an Italian couple with diverse skills and experiences, eager to learn, adapt, and contribute with enthusiasm to any project.

Cooking and manual work

We are skilled in cooking, especially Italian cuisine, and our diet is primarily plant-based for ethical and environmental reasons. Thanks to our time living in Spain, we also enjoy preparing Spanish dishes and experimenting with Asian flavors. We’re confident in preparing meals for both small and large groups. We also enjoy manual work, from crafting to hands-on tasks like repairing, assembling, or creating.

Gardening and farming

We have a solid foundation in gardening and farming, including watering, weeding, planting, harvesting, and recognizing the right moment to pick fruit. This year, we’ve also learned to prune vineyards and take care of a small vegetable garden and fruit trees. Working outdoors, surrounded by nature, is something we deeply value.

Education and work

We are both psychologists and neuroscience researchers with specific interests: Anna focuses on family psychotherapy, while Sofia specializes in adolescent psychology. Currently, we work with families at risk and teenagers with learning disabilities. We’re also pursuing PhDs in neuroscience—Sofia studies visuospatial functions and navigation, while Anna focuses on social neuroscience and responses to physical touch, especially in autism.

Animal care

Sofia is a certified canine educator with extensive experience volunteering at animal shelters, working primarily with traumatized dogs. Anna has experience caring for donkeys, chickens, and cats during her Workaway and petsitting experiences. We share a passion for animals and their well-being, and we’re both comfortable caring for a variety of pets.

Languages

We are native Italian speakers and can teach Italian. We also speak English and Spanish fluently, and Anna, who attended a Spanish international high school and lived in Madrid, is confident teaching Spanish as well. Anna has a C1-level certificate in Spanish and some knowledge of French.

Artistic and creative skills

We are both creative individuals with artistic hobbies. Anna has been playing the accordion since she was eight and enjoys photography. Sofia is a talented drawer and recently started creating handmade ceramic objects. Writing is a shared passion, and we also love exploring crafts and learning new techniques.

Group activities

Sofia has a background as a scout leader and camp organizer, while Anna has participated in volunteer projects and group travels in Africa, Asia, and Central America. We feel comfortable in group settings and are experienced in organizing and participating in collaborative activities.

Workaway Experience

Anna has previously participated in Workaway, spending two summers on a farm in Corsica. She returned for a second year because she had a wonderful experience with her hosts, Mauro and Carole, who became like family to her and welcomed her back warmly. During her time there, she cared for animals, worked in the garden, and helped with guest hospitality. This experience was life-changing, offering opportunities to learn new skills, improve her French, and create lasting bonds. Sofia hasn’t tried Workaway yet but is inspired by Anna’s stories and eager to begin this journey.

We’re passionate about connecting with new people, learning about their cultures through cooking, traditions, and storytelling. We hope to create meaningful relationships that last beyond the Workaway experience.
