Hello from Anita in Austin, Texas! I love to travel and explore new places, to hike, bike, and swim in places of beauty. My goal as a Workawayer is to share my skills, enthusiasm, laughter, intellectual curiosity and creativity in language/cultural exchange.

I love to hike, dance, create, cook, garden, eat, and play. An enthusiastic and energetic traveler, I have traveled widely throughout Mexico, Colombia and Europe. Through Workaway I’ve spent 5 months in Colombia teaching English. I am eager to continue my journeys, eager to meet you and fully experience your community and culture!

I am a TEFL-certified English teacher with experience teaching youth and adults at all levels. I love teaching and enjoy using creative, kinetic and interesting activities to engage students.

I recently retired from the University of Texas at Austin where I managed research projects on health behavior and social work practice. I have masters' degrees in media studies and library science, and am keenly interested in knowing more about how people communicate. I particularly enjoy having good conversations, talking with people - especially my students! - to learn about their lives, interests, and culture.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am a certified TEFL instructor with experience teaching English to youth and adults at all levels of proficiency. I also have excellent writing and editing skills, including writing for web. I am a pretty good cook and enjoy gardening & preparing healthy and nutritious dishes using local ingredients. I am flexible, a hard worker and eager to learn -- I am willing to take on new tasks and finish them!
