Kia ora, I'm Ali! I'm a 29 year old female from New Zealand, and I'm travelling around South (and possibly Central) America for the rest of this year.

I feel drawn to this part of the world for various reasons: I know a little bit of Spanish and am very keen to learn more; I love being in nature, and would love to experience all the diversity that these areas have to offer; I've heard great things about the people and culture in many countries in this region - it sounds so vibrant and passionate!

Some other things that I love are going for walks, yoga, cycling, surfing, dancing, art and food.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Most of my work has been in social services and not-for-profit organisations. I recently worked at an NGO which provides support for people experiencing homelessness, where I managed the health services there. This was challenging and extremely rewarding work!

Prior to this, I worked as a youth worker, and have previously worked at New Zealand's ministry for children, where I responded to information requests. I also volunteered at an organisation which provides phone counselling for young people in New Zealand.

I have experience working with children through a previous role at an early learning centre, and many babysitting jobs in my late teens and early twenties. I also have a beautiful niece and nephew who I look after regularly.

I have a bachelor of science in Psychology. I am considering further study in psychology or counselling when I get back to New Zealand after this trip abroad!

I definitely think my main skills are in connecting with people. I love getting to know people and hearing their stories. I feel comfortable holding space for others in situations which can be emotionally challenging. And I love just hanging out and being social!

I also enjoy drawing and painting, and would love to get involved in some art projects! I practice yoga relatively regularly, and would also really like to work towards a yoga teaching qualification at some point. I love being in nature, and I have a lot of experience in tending to house plants! I am less experienced in gardening and working with outdoor plants, but would be very keen to learn!

I love singing, and I play a little bit of guitar. I also have some experience in organising and hosting medium scale parties/events.

I speak English fluently, and am currently learning Spanish.
