Description

We are Niamh and Alex - a young and enthusiastic couple who are travelling all over Asia and Europe to experience and explore new cultures.

We have both worked for the past 6-7 years, with Niamh being a school teacher (ages 5-11) and Alex as a Data Analyst. We have prior experience in hospitality, events and admin roles. Alex has previous workaway experience, including a hostel in Da Nang (Vietnam) as a Volunteer and a kids summer camp in Balatonkenese (Hungary) as a Camp Counsellor. Niamh has experience as an Au-Pair in Madrid (Spain) where she lived with a family, looking after two children, in a cultural exchange.

Before working in those roles, we received our University degrees in England (Liverpool and Sheffield), where Niamh studied French & Spanish, whilst Alex studied Marketing.

We hope that we can share and use our previous experiences and learn more about your culture during our time with you.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Working with children - Niamh has several years of experience as a school teacher for children between the ages of 5 and 11 across all subjects, specialising in Maths and Modern Languages. As well as this, she also has more home-based experience as an au-pair for a family in Madrid, including organising interactive activities with lots of multi-lingual exchanges, assisting with day trips and other general childcare. Alex has previous experience working as a Camp Counsellor at a kids summer camp (ages 8-12) in Hungary, where he was the Sports Lead, creating fun and engaging sessions, whilst improving the children's confidence in their English language skills.

Languages and Culture - We both have prior experiences of travelling and immersing ourselves in other cultures. While volunteering on a farm in Vietnam, we led English lessons for local business owners - a chance for them to practice conversational English and exchange cultural experiences. Niamh has lived in both Nantes (France) and Barcelona (Spain), where she both studied and worked in a local school. Alex has travelled extensively through Asia and Europe, including volunteering abroad in Vietnam. Additionally, whilst we are both born and raised in England, Niamh's maternal family is from Dublin (Ireland) and Alex's is from Bali (Indonesia), so we hope that we can share and exchange our insights and exposure of these cultures with you.

Hospitality - Throughout our adult lives, we have both worked in various hospitality jobs, including cafes, restaurants and bars throughout the UK. Alex has also worked in a hostel in Da Nang (Vietnam), entailing leading breakfast services, socialising with guests and ensuring customers were enjoying themselves.

Cooking - We are both passionate about food, and always looking to expand our palette and learn about food in different parts of the world. We massively enjoy cooking at home and for friends and family, with a wide range of cuisines ranging from various parts in Asia and Europe.

Gardening - We have developed a keen interest in gardening and are enthusiastic in developing on the knowledge we have gained from projects at our home in England. On our most recent workaway, we helped with the maintenance of a farm, including weeding and planting various crops.

Data Analysis - Alex has worked as a Data Analyst for the past 7 years, notably for a Management Consultancy for the past 5 years, working closely with clients across all different sectors, both in the UK and internationally. If there are any needs for work around data, Alex is more than happy to provide any expertise in this field (or any adjacent).

Sport and Leisure - We both enjoy spending time outdoors and are keen hikers. Alex has played several sports at competitive levels in the UK, such as football, rugby, field hockey and cricket. These have included leadership roles in both a captaincy and coaching capacity.

We both have passion for sports, games and the outdoors. Our perfect day would be spending time outside getting our hands dirty, followed by card games and socialising in the evening.
