Xin chào bạn! That's a formal way of saying hello in my mother tongue. My name is Alyssa and I am a Vietnamese-American who grew up splitting her time between the barrios of Los Angeles and the rice fields of Hoi An.

Growing up in a family of immigrants-turned-engineers, it was ingrained in me from a young age to never be wasteful, to work with what you have, to approach situations with a logical mind, and to embrace people with a purity of heart. I still carry those lessons with me and credit my creativity and empathy to that tenacious upbringing.

These days, outside of my jobs in graphic design and copywriting, you can often find me playing guitar, singing, learning languages, reading books, and watching films. However, my biggest passion is writing poetry and I hope to publish a few books one day.

My hope is that Workaway will open my eyes to enriching cultural experiences and new ways of living. I believe that the best way to learn about the world is not through a newspaper, but through stories and experiences from real people. It would be an honor to learn about you, and I hope you want to learn more about me too.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

My main skill would be in Marketing. I have been working as a graphic designer for the past 5 years and have 10+ years of experience with the Adobe Suite. This includes Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, Premiere Pro, and After Effects. I can design advertisements, brochures, logos, and anything else you can think of. I also have a Sony A6000 DSLR camera and two lenses which means I can take photos/videos and edit existing ones as well.

I additionally can use Figma and CorelDraw and have knowledge of HTML/CSS.

Some other skills that might occasionally be of use is that I am very good with children and coming up with games for them to play; I am also skilled at hair and makeup. I can also teach guitar and basic Vietnamese.

I am a quick study and have taught myself most of my skills so if there is anything I can't do, you can be sure that I will do my absolute best to learn it.
