Hi!

I’m Adam from New Zealand. Over the next 6-12 months I'm backpacking through Central and South America, having started in Mexico at the beginning of August. A big motivating factor for this this trip is to challenge myself in a variety of ways and open myself up to a world of different perspectives so that I may broaden my understanding of the world in general.

I want to do this by traveling slow, connecting with locals and strangers and volunteering wherever I can, creating meaningful experiences and connections with people I meet along the way.

I've got a very inquisitive nature and am really interested in learning and understanding ‘why people do the things they do,’ as well as learning more about other cultures.

As I’ve recently discovered a new passion for all plants and gardening in general, I’m especially interested in learning about permaculture or anything eco related.

I'd also really like to do some volunteering at hostels where I get a chance to showcase my people skills while ensuring that guests have a memorable stay.

I’m keen to assist in any way I can as I’d like to learn some new skills and gain some experience in a variety of areas.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have experience in landscaping, gardening and have some experience working in construction (civil and residential) so have a basic understanding of building concepts and knowledge of how to use a range of tools. I've held a variety of positions ranging from physical jobs in trades to client facing office jobs such as an account broker for an insurance brokerage firm.

My ability to learn very quickly, my overall positivity and naturally having a genuine interest in other people are some of my greatest strengths. I can communicate effectively with a wide range of people and enjoy working as a member of a team towards a common goal.

In my free time I enjoy gardening (especially growing cacti), longboarding, hiking and playing board games (especially chess).

Last year I also discovered a new interest in mycology work and slacklining, and am always looking for new things to try my hand at.

While on this trip I intend to learn how to surf.
