Description
We live in the countryside of southern Spain, surrounded by avocado, mango, lemon, olive and almond trees. It's very peaceful and the nearest town is 10 minutes by car. There are other charming, typical Spanish whitewashed villages 15-20 minutes away, each with their own ex-pat communities - some bohemian, some just plain friendly! At the moment we're blessed with a good music scene with open mic nights and live bands. A more English community is 20 minutes away.
It's very peaceful where we live and that's the way we like it - it really is beautiful. I'm a peace-loving Holistic Therapist and my home needs some TCL. We've got to a point where we feel that quite a lot now needs to happen at once to protect it from the elements and to make a lovely garden for friends and family to come and stay - both in our house and in the separate self-contained casita (small dwelling) in which you'd stay, which has lovely open views.
We have two very happy friendly dogs and several cats.
We're based near Benamargosa in Malaga province - nearest airport Malaga.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

English speaking and not too bad at Spanish - we can usually get by. We're happy to help with English language and to have chats about Spanish / in Spanish but we can't promise we'll be particularly educational in Spanish!
As mentioned in the overview of where we live, there are several great English communities and there is also a growing Dutch presence up in Comares, which is only 20 minutes up the mountain.
There is a pretty good music scene and artesan markets in neighbouring villages too.
The beach is a 30-minute drive where you can enjoy the beach bars (chiringuitos) which range from wooden shacks to fully blown restaurants. Torre Del Mar is the nearest. Public transport unfortunately isn't great.Aide
We need someone who can paint (indoors and out), and landscape the garden with a bohemian vibe - we have lots of ideas but not much time to do them as we pretty much work full-time. The casita might still be quite basic by the time you get here but of course there is a bathroom, kitchen, lounge and mezanine bedroom, along with the garden area. Painting it inside and out is likely to be on your list of things to do, along with painting the garden walls, metal pergoda, doors etc.
We enjoy our peace and quiet and enjoy a vino or two at the end of the day - but heavy drinkers or stoners please don't apply!
We eat predominantly vegetarian and so we think it's best if we give you a meal allowance so you can buy and cook your own food at your own preferred time, in return for a number of pre-agreed helping hours most days.Langues

Happy to assist anyone wanting to improve their English language skills. Our Spanish is OK !Hébergement
Self-contained accomodation with mezanine bedroom (low and sloping ceiling height). There will also be a sofa - hopefully a fold out bed sofa by then. Bathroom is ground floor.
The casita is accessed via a gated and fenced garden.
It's very light and airy with lots of windows and a lovely view. One of the tasks that we'd like you to do will be to paint it inside and out :)Autres infos...
As we said, no big drinkers please or stoners / social substance takers! We've had too much negative experience (as well as good experiences admittedly) but we've outgrown that kind of vibe and it's not welcome in our home which is my sanctuary and my neighbours'.No smoking indoors but there is plenty of outside space if you're a smoker.
Beach 30 minutes away by car, mountains to climb include Maroma, Table Mountain and we think we're about 1 1/2 - 2 hours away from Sierra Nevada which is a ski resort in the colder months. That's on our bucket list (not to ski but to hire a glorified plastic tea tray and slide down!). Nerja caves are a great tourist attraction, as is Malaga city itself.
We think there are buses from Benamargosa to the coast but we're not sure of times. From Torre del Mar you can get bus connections up and down the costa.Informations complémentaires

Possibilité d’accueillir les digital nomads
We use our internet for work and have good speeds - TV is purely streaming, So we do use it significantly. Digital nomads welcome as long as it's a fair use policy and no hogging of the data! LOL.
Espace pour garer des vans
The driveway is uneven so you'd be parked on a slope.
