  Description

  Hello! my name is Arianna. I live together with my family (my husband Giulio, and my children, Fiamma and Tusco) with our dog (Dana) and four cats (Cenere Luna Kiki and Killer) on a hill between Pisa and Lucca. We have lived here for several years now, when we arrived 14 years ago the olive grove land was completely abandoned and we are slowly recovering it. To help us we have adopted several animals, which graze under the olive trees and have enlarged the family. To date we have 3 donkeys (Marta, Petunia and Ignazio) and a beautiful blonde mule (Yuma) a few goats and our young Border Collie (Dana). In the winter season we don't have a lot of space to host and the days flow less frenetically. My husband (Giulio) works as an employee in a neighboring country as a cellarman and I try to engage as much as possible in chores here at home, such as the vegetable garden, gardening, pruning, the arrangement of dry stone walls. The children instead go one to middle school and the other to the second class of high school. For the olive harvest period Giulio takes the holidays and in two, also helped by the children when they feel like it, we try to do everything possible. In reality, the original plan would be to arrive at a sort of self-support in various small productions such as oil, honey, vegetables, firewood. In addition to what we do every day, Giulio spends most of his free time here but also loves to travel by Vespa. I (Arianna) have a passion for cooking and for photography (both digital and analog) and lately I am dedicated to learning yoga, now i'm a certificated teacher . Fiamma and Tusco, on the other hand, are always looking for new things, around the olive grove, even if lately they are discovering technology (computers and cell phones) and are strongly attracted to it. Dana after her visits from the goats, loves to take long naps on the sofa, while our cats are always around ready to be pampered. Here we are, this is us!
  
  Ciao! mi chiamo Arianna. Vivo insieme alla mia famiglia (mio marito Giulio, e i miei figli, Fiamma e Tusco) al nostro cane (Dana) e a 4 gatti (Cenere Luna Kiki e Killer) su una collina tra Pisa e Lucca. Ormai sono diversi anni che abitiamo qui, quando siamo arrivati 14 anni fa il terreno ad oliveto era completamente abbandonato e piano piano lo stiamo recuperando. Per aiutarci abbiamo adottato diversi animali, che brucano sotto gli olivi e hanno ingrandito la famiglia. Ad oggi abbiamo 3 asini (Marta, Petunia e Ignazio) e una bella mula bionda (Yuma) qualche capretta e la nostra giovane Border Collie (Dana). In stagione invernale non abbiamo tanto spazio per ospitare e le giornate scorrono in maniera meno frenetica. Mio marito (Giulio) lavora come dipendente in un paese vicino come cantiniere e io cerco di impegnarmi il più possibile in lavoretti qui a casa, come l'orto, il giardinaggio, le potature, la sistemazione dei muretti a secco. I bimbi invece vanno uno alle scuole medie e l'altra andrà in seconda liceo linguistico. Per il periodo di raccolta delle olive Giulio si prende le ferie e in due, aiutati anche dai bimbi quando ne hanno voglia, cerchiamo di fare il possibile. In realtà il progetto originario sarebbe quello di arrivare ad una sorta di autosostentamento in varie piccole produzioni quali l'olio, il miele, le verdure, la legna da ardere. Oltre a quello che facciamo tutti i giorni, Giulio impiega la maggior parte del suo tempo libero qui ma ama anche viaggiare in Vespa. Io (Arianna) ho passione per la cucina e per la fotografia (sia digitale che analogica) e ultimamente mi dedico all'apprendimento dello yoga, e adesso sono insegnante certificata. Fiamma e Tusco invece sono sempre alla ricerca di cose nuove, in giro per l'oliveto, anche se ultimamente stanno scoprendo la tecnologia (computers e cellulari) e ne sono fortemente attratti. Dana dopo le sue visite dalle capre, ama fare lunghi sonnellini su divano, mentre i nostri gatti sono una sempre in giro pronti a farsi coccolare. Eccoci qua, questi siamo noi!

  Our house is right halfway between Pisa and Lucca and overlooks a beautiful panorama of the Pisan plain with a view of the Leaning Tower. Cultural traditions and local products are still strong in this area. If you want you can learn (in addition to managing and cuddling donkeys or goats, pruning plants or other things related to the work mentioned above) to make bread with local yeast and local flour, you can learn the typical Tuscan vegetable dishes and meat (since we like to eat all together), to recognize some wild herbs and to use them. Finally I hope I can learn something from you too;)
  There are also many sports activities to do in the area. If you drive the fan is really wide (from kayaking on Lake Massaciuccoli to trekking in the Apuan Alps to the routes to be done by mountain bike).
  We try to share as much as possible our experiences and trips made in the area so it could happen that you are involved in a trip to the sea or river or to an evening in a beer garden in Pisa.
  
  La nostra casa è proprio a metà strada tra Pisa e Lucca e si affaccia su un bellissimo panorama della piana pisana con vista Torre pendente. Le tradizioni culturali e i prodotti del territorio sono ancora forti in questa zona. Se vorrete potrete imparare (oltre a gestire e coccolare gli asini o le caprette, a potare le piante o altre cose relative ai lavori sopra detti) a fare il pane con il lievito madre e le farine locali, potrete imparare i piatti tipici toscani di verdure e di carne (visto che a noi piace mangiare tutti assieme), a riconoscere alcune erbe selvatiche e ad usarle. Infine spero di poter imparare anche io qualcosa da voi ;)
  Nella zona ci sono anche molte attività sportive da fare. Se automuniti il ventaglio è veramente ampio (dal kayak sul lago di Massaciuccoli al trekking sulle Alpi Apuane ai percorsi da fare in Mountain Bike).
  Noi cerchiamo di condividere il più possibile le nostre esperienze e gite fatte nella zona quindi potrebbe capitarvi di essere coinvolti in una gita al mare o in fiume o a una serata in birreria a Pisa.

  Aide

  We would need help for the most during the summer months to prepare the wood for the winter, water the vegetable garden and plants. A little help in the house and other maintenance work varies. Arrange the border with the fence for animals (transport of materials, disposal of waste vegetation, ideas for the construction of fences). Work a little in the arrangement of the dry stone walls (choice of stones and accumulation on site). Vegetable garden and gardening (transplanting and planting). I would like to have help to create a small pitch where to make a recovered wooden floor, to do yoga among the olive trees. For those wishing there would be the opportunity to help Giulio in the morning or evening at the barn with goats and donkeys but also with chickens and turkeys. There are many things, the important thing is to do them together and you can learn everything! Unfortunately, however, we are alone (alongside my husband's parents who are elderly, however). We would look for people who want to stay for long, the Ideal would be for at least a month especially in the summer.
  Specifically, we would need some small help in small masonry works that we are not able to do and we would love to learn.
  
  Avremmo bisogno di aiuto prevalentemente durante i mesi estivi per preparare la legna per l'inverno, innaffiare l'orto e le piante. Un po di aiuto intorno a casa e vari lavori di manutenzione. Grande aiuto ci serve per sistemare il confine con la recinzione per gli animali (trasporto materiali, smaltimento vegetazione di risulta, idee nella realizzazione delle recinzioni). Lavorare un po' nella sistemazione dei muretti a secco (scelta delle pietre e accumulo sul posto). Orto e giardinaggio (trapianto e sistemazione piante). Mi piacerebbe avere aiuto per creare una piccola piazzola dove fare un pavimento in legno recuperato, per fare yoga tra gli olivi. Per chi volesse ci sarebbe la possibilità di aiutare Giulio la mattina o la sera alla stalla con capre ed asini ma anche con polli e tacchini. Di cose ce ne sono tante, l'importante è farle insieme e tutto si può imparare! Purtroppo invece noi siamo soli (a fianco vivono i genitori di mio marito che però sono anziani). Cercheremmo persone che abbiano tempo di fermarsi un po' più a lungo, l'ideale sarebbe per almeno un mese specialmente nel periodo estivo.
  Nello specifico ci servirebbe qualche piccolo aiuto in piccoli lavori di muratura che no non siamo capaci di fare e ci piacerebbe molto imparare.

  Hébergement

  During the summer we provide a two-seater caravan (a couple or someone who has no problem sharing the space with people they don't knowor or a family of three). The caravan is in the shade all day it has a basic electrical system and now we are trying to bring water. however, the bathroom and kitchen are those of our house which is not far away. In winter we provide a room for 4 people to share. The room has independent access and an internal bathroom. It is detached from the main portion of the house and for breakfast and other meals we will stay in the room of our house, where there is a large table and a fireplace. In addition, my kitchen is open to new friends who want to experiment or learn new dishes!
  
  Durante l'estate mettiamo a disposizione una rulotte per due posti (una coppia o qualcuno che non abbia problemi a condividere lo spazio con persone che non conosce o una famigliola di tre persone ). La roulotte è in ombra tutto il giorno ha un impianto elettrico basilare e ora stiamo cercando di portarci l'acqua. il Bagno e la cucina sono comunque quelli di casa nostra che è poco distante. In inverno mettiamo a disposizione una camera per 4 persone da condividere. La camera ha accesso autonomo e bagno interno. È staccata dalla porzione principale della casa e per colazione e gli altri pasti staremo invece nella sala di casa nostra, dove c'è un grande tavolo e un caminetto. Inoltre la mia cucina è aperta a nuovi amici che vorranno sperimentare o imparare piatti nuovi!

  The house is well positioned as an area, exactly halfway between Pisa and Lucca. Only downside there is about 1km from the main road slightly uphill. Once on the main road there are buses to Lucca and Pisa every hour. Not far away there is also the Ripafratta railway station. In your free time you can therefore visit Pisa and Lucca by bus or train. Also by train you can visit Livorno or Florence (respectively 30 and 60 minutes from Pisa). The nearest airport is Pisa (Galileo Galilei). If you don't want to move, some hiking and trekking trails start from here and not far away there are the ruins of the medieval tower of Centino and the fortress of S. Paolino di Ripafratta. During the summer I try to take the children to the sea and if you want you can come with us.
  
  La casa è ben posizionata come area, esattamente a metà strada tra Pisa e Lucca. Unico inconveniente c'è circa 1 km dalla strada principale leggermente in salita. Una volta sulla statale ci sono bus per Lucca e per Pisa ogni ora. Poco distante c'è anche la stazione ferroviaria di Ripafratta. Nel tempo libero quindi potrete visitare Pisa e Lucca con l'autobus o con il treno. Sempre con il treno potrete visitare Livorno o Firenze (distanti rispettivamente 30 e 60 minuti da Pisa) L'aereoporto più vicino è quello di Pisa (Galileo Galilei). Se non vorrete spostarvi da qui partono alcuni sentieri per fare hiking e trekking e non lontano ci sono i ruderi della torre medievale del Centino e della rocca di S. Paolino di Ripafratta. Durante l'estate cerco di portare i bambini al mare e se volete potete venire con noi.

  the road to arrive here is narrow and gravel but we also have a van (iveco daily short pass). If your van is not too long You can arrive here with a litte bit of patience!! :-)

  We accept pets, but we have a femail Border collie (sterilized). usually she so friendly, but we don't be sure she will go well to all the others dogs! Also we ave free animal (donkeys, goats, chickens), and the animal have to be use to it!
