Description
This is a 13th century manor House located in the heart of the Basque country .
The area is breathtakingly beautiful and wonderful for hiking.
We have a large organic vegetable garden from which we prepare vegetarian meals all year. Though we do eat organic locally produced meat some times. We are experimenting with permaculture. We serve organic vegetarian Food at our summer concerts in an outdoor Theatre. After 20 years of renovation we still have several projects . Building an earth dome for a spa and a wood cabin for extra out door space.
We are English but speak reasonable French.
We are happy to help you with your English or French if you are trying to improve them. :-)
We are a half hours drive from Biarritz & the Basque coast & there is now a bus from the village.. We are in a valley between the mountains of Baigura 897m & Garalda 600m giving several excellent walks from the house.
We have a white water raft and when the weather is very hot we go to the river Nive in the next valley, which is lots of fun.

We host groups for alternative activities most weekends, our guests are very open and interested in the travelers who stay with us.
We live a relaxed & ecofriendly lifestyle with a very productive vegetable garden set in a magnificent location.
The summer concerts we organize here are good fun & our public interact well with the workawayers

Very beautiful region for hiking, half hour from the coast (biarritz) transport available; the summer we have a white water raft which is fun on the river Nive. Very interesting region historically (prehistoric caves, chocolate museums and artisans sheeps cheese )

This is an amazing Workaway with wonderful hosts who made me feel really at home. Tony and Jane's place is great, with stunning surroundings, plenty of fun things to do (especially loved rafting!) and lots of delicious food/drink. We stayed with Tony and Jane in their beautiful 13th century home for 2 weeks. During our stay we mostly helped with the cooking, serving and house keeping for the two yoga groups that visited. Carmen and Cristobal were great to host ,always happy, creative, very helpful and organized. Cristobal is a great cook and Carmen was his top assistant in the kitchen. This was my first workaway experience and it was INCREDIBLE ! We gardened most days and helped bake cakes for the English day, where we worked with a bunch of little kids for a few hours. Rita was a pleasure to host, she fitted in quickly with us and was very helpful. She has a lovely personality is very calm and dependable. I loved hearing about Portugal and hope to visit one day and do a Rita tour (when she has saved up for her tour bus!!).

Daniel was a great helper,
He has a lovely personality and is funny as well. It was great having him around and hearing all his stories. We had quite a lot of building work to do (moving tiles and insulation) whilst he was with us, so not the most creative or pleasant work ,but Daniel got on with it never complaining.

One of the best things i've ever done - Seriously.
Tony and Jane are great hosts, they really care about their volunteers. The work was nice, I spent my time there mainly traiting wood planks and moving construction materials, but also some stuff in the garden.

This is a welcoming gueshouse surrounded by green, beautiful landscape. I spent a fantastic month in the Pays Basque with Tony, Jane and family. The work was mostly outdoors with some cooking to be done when they had yoga groups. The accommodation and food was top notch.
