  • Description

I work for a cool international NGO that does innovative social enterprise and solar power projects in Guatemala.

    Our organization has various needs:
    1. photographer/videographer to travel to our project sites and interview our local partners and beneficiaries for a 3- 5 minute video, social media posts and web content.
    2. Web Design, SEO, SMO etc.
    3. Accountant Consulting - Help us set up a better accounting system and process. Help write our protocol manual for consistent reporting. Solve our problems on Quickbooks!

Our women-run farm (where you will stay in a cute cabin in the woods) needs your energy moving forward our projects raising chickens, ducks, rabbits and quail.

So come help a grassroots organization and a women-run farm get off its feet!

Committed to sustainable community development, we collaborate with grassroots organizations in projects that add skills and sustainable infrastructure to meet basic needs and provide opportunity to break out of the cycle of poverty.

We support the start up of indigenous solar microbusinesses, installs solar on community buildings, constructs buildings with natural materials, and designs community-specific technologies such as solar hotwater, fuel-efficient stoves, solar vaccine refrigerators, etc.

    Your Life while in Guatemala:

Depending on the nature of your project, you may be working in San Marcos la Laguna (a small, Mayan village on Lake Atitlan, the site of our Guatemala's field office) or in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. You would be traveling to visit our project sites around Lake Atitlan and Quetzaltenango.

For the above reasons, advanced spanish speaking ability is required. (Unless you are an accountant!)

San Marcos La Laguna, home to our Field Office, is a small, Mayan village on Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. We have access to surrounding towns and villages by boat, a quiet tourism industry and lots of agriculture.

The primary languages are Kaqchiquel and Spanish, the amount of activity in the English-speaking community of foreigners varies greatly from month to month. You will also spend a lot of your time with or without other volunteers and local co-workers at the workshop or jobsite. Independence and self-motivation is essential.
