    Description

I am really in despair now. My permanent worker who was supposed to come back on the 3rd October wrote to me 2 days before that his shoulder is hurting very much and that he needs a long treatment. This means that he cannot come back for a very long time. Don’t think that we had any problems together. We got along very well, had no serious discussions or problems. I feel he just wanted to stay with his family.

In fact he knew exactly that I depend on a helper. I am over 80 now and some work is just too much for me. I try to do as much as possible, but I do not have the strength.

This is just an addition to my profile. I am not able to write it all new. Just to show you that I do need a helper. The old profile comes still after this, to show you what kind of a farm I have.

My permanent helper, who has been with me for a long time, has gone on holiday. Now I am quite alone with all the work. It is much too much for me. I do hope very much that someone will come to my aid.

It is quite some time since I have up-dated my profile. It have had many workaways over many years. In the meantime I have turned older and I cannot do as much work as in earlier days.

I am all on my own. How will I be able to cope with the work? Days are not getting longer. So I shall indeed be extremely happy to welcome a workaway for some additional help, mainly to help me with harder work.

I do not have many animals now. About 5 types of geese/ducks, including peacocks and chickens, whereas before there were many very special decorative birds. They are all for pleasure, not for eating. Only two of my cows are still with me. They are Scottish Highlanders and do not give much work. A goat is running around the garden. She is loved by everyone.

The main work that needs doing at the moment is sorting out the wood. We have a big nut tree. It just became too big so we had someone here to trim it down. Branches are still lying around and have to be sorted out and piled up for winter use. Then as soon as the weather gets a bit cooler there are a number of paint jobs that need doing - window frames, shutters, walls of some sheds. and of course, as there is a big garden, the weeds are growing faster than the rest of the plants. They have to be pulled out and burnt. I have just come back from America and during my stay there the weeds have just grown. We have been trying to at least improve the vegetable garden, but quite a bit needs still doing. In fact I love doing garden work, but due to the arthrose in my knees I had to cut down.

I am originally Swiss, but I have lived here in France for the last 20 years. My house is right out in the country, 375 km south of Paris, 150 km north of Lyon. The nearest small town with a super market is 12 km away, though there is a small store in the village, if one forgets something. Summers are quite hot. In winter we rarely have snow, though it can get well below zero. Behind my house is a golf course, where you can play Swin golf. This is much easier than golf and you need no experience to play it.

There are several caves to visit in the neighborhood, the best I find are at Moidon and at Baumes-les-Messieurs. The latter has a nice cascade and picnic place and a convent. A pleasant walk through Chateau-Chalon gives you either fantastic views over vineyards or you can taste some good vines. Then there is the museum in the castle at Pierre de Bresse, the visit to the salt museum and of course most important a visit to Beaune with its old hospice from the middle ages. These are just a few of the places to visit.

I like workaways to stay for at least 2-3 weeks or preferably longer. I like non-smokers.
