WE ARE NOT ACTIVE AT THIS TIME.
This project is an offshoot of the DIY Boatpunk sailing festival in Rio Dulce which is a free event that aims to bring together sea gypsies, travelers, old salts, backpackers, and sea fanatics from all over the world to share their knowledge and experience with any and all who would like to learn about sailing and a life at sea.
We aim to provide a fun, open, safe, and inclusive environment to help travelers enter the world of sailing, and provide inspiration and support for our dreams of a life at sea.
The vibe here is more like we are all friends helping each other out, rather than like some kind of sterile business exchange with a rigid set of rules and schedules (as some other hosts I have worked for have been). Flexibility is key as this is a completely fluid and dynamic situation.

One of the central philosophies behind both the project and the festival is that through sharing our knowledge and skills we can help eachother reach our goals, and bring our dreams to reality.
The dream of having a boat can seem huge and at times impossible. People joining the Project get to learn the necessary skills to overcome the challenges of having a boat of their own, or become competent crew to be able to boathitch around the world.
"Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing—absolutely nothing—half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."
Our main goal is to get our sailboat ready for adventures at sea, and making a passage to the USA. This has been a long and unforgettable journey so far with countless opportunities to learn practical skills and apply them. Lots of hard work in the boatyard and marinas.
The culmination of the project leads to ocean passages which along the way we will be exploring islands and reefs, diving and fishing, and looking for ocean wildlife. Everyone wants to go sailing. What we need here are people that want to learn how to make that happen; the steps involved to get to that point.
There are an endless amount of tasks and small projects open for volunteers to help on. We have rope work, fiberglassing, epoxy work, keeping the boats clean, woodworking, painting, wood finishing, cooking, rigging, electrical, boat maintenance, sailing, navigation, boat handling exercises, and all sorts of random skill sharing opportunities.
For sleeping arrangements we have space on boats. This tends to be dynamic and fluid as work on the project is ongoing and may change where we fit people.
We are a VEGETARIAN, and DRUG/ALCOHOL FREE safe space.
