Description
We are an organization from small village Bwayi close to Kitale in western Kenya. Meaning hope in our local luyia language and our goal is to empower the local community of Bwayi village to improve quality of life and community resilience by introducing sustainable agriculture and providing support in education, basic healthcare as (using mosquito nets and teaching about AIDS) and women support.
On the property of organization is training organic garden, chicken coop and fish pond all owned by community and Lower primary school for for vulnerable young children who are not able not walk far to reach the nearest school, the school is supporting 90 students are providing them with food during the school to nurture not only their minds but also bodies. We are always in need of teachers and we welcome volunteers to join and teach children.
We train local women in sustainable organic farming based on locally grown crops without use of chemicals and emphasizing composting methods, mixed planting, diversification of crops, natural control of insects and diseases, soil conservation, sustainability of production and seed saving. Since 2016 we have trained almost 250 local women.
Recently we have started tree nursery, and we are emphasizing the role of trees for the people and environment. We are committed to mitigating climate change and support tree planting in our community and around Mount Elgon and in future in other parts of Kenya, we are training the community in regenerative farming and syntropic agroforestry -

Aide
Our activities are primarily run by enthusiastic and committed volunteers with unique ideas.
As a volunteer you can take part in a sustainable farming training, educational activities, construction work, permaculture methods practice, activities with children and youth, women empowerment, vocational training, community development seminars, fundraising, online promotion etc.
Right now in the moment we are welcoming any hand to join us in our starting of the tree nursery. We are prepairing seedlings and rolling tubes from newspaper to avoid use of plastic for the seedling tubes.
We welcome students or professionals in the area of sustainable agriculture, hydro-engineering, education, ecological construction, fishery, hand-made crafts (tailoring, embroidery, pottery, carpentry etc.) and any other subject of your interest. -

Hébergement
We provide our volunteers with basic accommodation directly on site. In the moment our volunteer house has unfortunately leaking roof and we are waiting for repair.
So volunteers will be staying in small room with bed and mosquito net without electricity. But in the office there is solar power, so you can charge your phone or socialize.
There is communal fire kitchen, where is prepaired nutrious food for children and workers which you will be sharing.
There is safe drinkable water from the bore hole available.
There are no showers, so you will join us in real rural experience as we wash ourselves with bucket. -

Isac, the founder of the oranization is pasionate about biking and ther are bicycles available free of charge to volunteers working with us to discover surroundings.
Volunteers can discover nearby interesting sites asSaiwa swamp National park or hike in the Mount Elgon National park. -
