  Description

  We live up a mountain in the back lands of Taormina in 650m above the sea. We look at Taormina and Castelmola, the Mount Venus and the sea from above and are surrounded by untarnished nature, piece and quiet. We are: my mom (75),a retired film editor, originallyfrom south of Germany, who has been living in Sicilyfor 15 years and I (45), a graphic designer from Berlin. We are joined by 7 cats and 2 dogs and normally some chickens, but their castle needs rebuilding first, which is be one of the many things we need help with...

  Since we live here we are part of the local society here, so you'll get an inside view of people and country . But the main attraction is the house and its location. You'll enjoy staying in and with nature and working in it will (re) connect you with the earth and yourself. Doing yoga in the morning for example, going for walks without meeting anyone else etc. On the building projects we will work together and teach each other how to build and construct and if you want learn some Italian along the way. My mom will teach gardening and building a typical Sicilian dry wall etc. I show you how work with wood and construct and if you want spike your creativity a bit :)
  And of course we will do yoga together, cook and spend the evenings playing games / talking etc :)

  Aide

  It's a big terrain, with garden terraces, olive trees and so on. So if there are enough olives this year we would need help collecting olives for oil, constructing a terrace platform, a compost toilette, refurnishing the fences and many little things that need repairing or maintenance.

  Hébergement

  We have a apartment with 2 bedrooms (each has a 2x2m bed) and a sleeping couch in the main room, which is shared. It consists of a living room area, a kitchen and a dining area. The bathroom has a shower and toilet. The apartment has its own entrance and a little terrace in front. There are plenty of parking lots, if you want to come by car (which is recommended!) and space for a van down the road.
  If you want to camp, you can set up anywhere in the huge garden and use kitchen and bathroom in the apartment. We will cook for all at lunch or dinner, depending of what is planned that particular day. We will organize that together.

  Autres infos...

  Since the house is remote and the roads are steep and curvy and not too good, we recommend a transport vehicle, like car, motor bike, vespa etc.
  Walking distance to Castelmola is 45 minutes. That's the next bus station to us. It leads to Taormina or Giardini Naxos by the sea (about 15 minutes) or the train station Taormina-Giardini. Trains to Catania and Messina or even Siracuse part every hour.

  We have wifi, but it's not too fast. Watching a movie is fine, but video calls or downloads/uploads take forever... And we value our privacy, so we don’t want to be part of Insta stories etc ;)
