  Description

  Hi there,
  We run a Social Enterprise based in a small village just south of the city of Yogyakarta.
  
  We have 3 for profit businesses, that then support 4 not for profit projects.
  The profit based side of our enterprise includes; firstly a small eco-villa homestay, with half a dozen eco-bungalows nestled amongst edible landscape gardens. I always think of this as our little laboratory for exploring sustainable, disaster resistant, thermally comfortable construction, through running ethical and culturally sensitive hospitality business.
  Secondly, we run a small Wholefood Restaurant, where we try to address the challenge of creating healthy delicious food, preferably paddock to plate and as animal and plant friendly as we can be.
  Finally we run a small Humanitarian consultancy company consulting with the UN, Red Cross, NGOs and others, on Sustainable Housing, Humanitarian Shelter, Disaster Preparedness and Disaster Coordination.
  
  From these three income sources, we then support 4 NGO's. In addition we undertake a range of projects assisting those around us in need.
  
  Basically we are all about trying to explore ethical business, sustainable construction and emergency shelter.
  
  We have had quite a few volunteers over the years and have generally found the best for both them and us, is when they are either longer-term or bring very specifically skills/focus.
  
  Depending on the relevance of your skills, and how full we are we MAY be able to offer support with accommodation. We don't really focus on making a profit which often means cash-flow can be tight and we try and focus what profit we do have on our work.

  We are based in a small muslim village on the edge of one of the most culturally interesting cities in Indonesia. We have a great team of young dynamic and interesting Indonesians working on a broad range of interesting projects. You will learn about the reality of life in Indonesia, but also about the challenges to sustainable development in practice

  Hi there. We posted this profile on Workaway a few years ago to see what sort of people applied.
  We are a small sustainable social enterprise and as such we run on a shoestring, so hosting someone is still a significant cost.
  The business has multiple aspects to it, organic gardens, sustainable construction etc We are always trying to build the skills, capacity, interculturality and motivation of our team. Its very hard to get good training for our staff here, so our real hope is for people who bring professional skills to share, so we can all learn and grow together. Sorry but we are not after just passing travellers looking for cheap accommodation in exchange for a bit of labour. If that's your goal then we are probably not the place for you, and we wish you all the best on your travels and would love to meet you when your in Yogya :)
  Areas that we could really use help in are training and building the capacity of our staff in hospitality, kitchen and garden management, sustainable construction skills, organic gardening knowledge.
  Our humanitarian consultancy company is a bit more difficult for short term volunteer work, as most of what we do is at a high level in emergency situations, but happy to discuss.
  Our Not for Profit activities, vary, and again would really be more about someone who is really interested in these particular areas and has skills to bring to the table and things to explore.

  We have a range of accommodation options, depending on the skills of the volunteer. Obviously we run an eco-homestay so this is our core business and we would tend to put volunteers up in other rooms nearby rather than one of the bungalows. Ah, there are so many options, really it comes down to a case by case discussion. but dont worry we are good at making sure people are comfortable
