    Description

We’re thrilled that you’re considering joining us for a unique volunteer experience at our waterfront home! Here’s what you can look forward to:
Our home is set on a 5.5-acre waterfront property, perfect for anyone who loves the outdoors. You’ll have your own cozy room in our single-floor house, where we live with our four pets—Jigger, Polly, Bella, and Lucia. The property offers a wealth of outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, canoeing, nature walks, and fishing. Feel free to bring your gear and make the most of this beautiful setting.
As we prepare for winter, we’re looking for someone who can commit to a longer stay. Winter brings its own set of challenges, so we need help with snow removal and keeping the place running smoothly. From shoveling snow to helping out with odd jobs around the house, this role requires someone ready to get their hands dirty and be part of our family through the colder months.
But winter also offers some incredible rewards! When you’re not helping with tasks, there’s plenty of time to relax and enjoy the snowy wonderland. You can try snowshoeing, explore the quiet, wintry woods, or simply relax indoors with a good book, some music, and hot meals. Winter here is a time to slow down, enjoy the quiet, and connect with nature in a way that’s hard to find elsewhere.
Life here can be quiet and peaceful—sometimes there’s a lot of downtime, especially in the winter. You’ll have to be okay with the isolation that comes with rural living. While the area is beautiful, driving here can be tricky when the weather turns, so keep that in mind if you’re planning a visit. But if you’re someone who enjoys a bit of adventure, the trade-offs are well worth it!
In exchange for your help, you’ll enjoy freshly prepared meals and a warm, comfortable bed. We ensure you’re well-fed and rested, so you can fully enjoy your time here.
You’ll also gain valuable hands-on experience, such as assisting a senior who occasionally needs gentle memory prompts and learning how to support someone who is wheelchair-bound but very independent. These are life skills that can serve you well in many areas.
Our days usually start around 9 AM, though we sometimes get going earlier for appointments. We love filling our home with music during the day, creating a cheerful, relaxed atmosphere. Evenings are for unwinding with board games, mystery shows, or just chatting. If you’re musically inclined, Carl would be delighted to offer basic guitar lessons. And if you’re interested in art, Maria can teach you how to create beautiful wire sculptures, from angels to trees and beyond.
One thing to keep in mind—I run a vlog online, so I will need some quiet, uninterrupted time to work on it. It's important for me to have that focus, so understanding that balance will be key to making this experience smooth and enjoyable for everyone.
The real benefit of volunteering with us goes beyond the tasks. You’ll become part of our family, sharing meals, stories, and experiences that create lasting memories.

We offer a warm, inclusive environment where you’ll feel valued and appreciated.
This experience is about growing, learning, and being part of something special. We can’t wait to welcome you into our home and share this adventure with you!
Looking forward to meeting you soon!
