We can wholeheartedly recommend Kris to potential hosts. She was a delight from start to finish. The main project was a mural to brighten up the entrance to our site. Kris put so much thought into the design before she even arrived and the result is amazing. She threw herself in to everything with enthusiasm and good humour. We just loved hearing

A neatly organised caravan and a fresh wall awaited me, at the smallholding of my new hosts.
Situated at a former airstrip and with the Mourne hills in the not so far distance, I enjoyed some beautiful sunsets and stary nights.
The day usually started with helping out feeding the animals, after having had breakfast of course.
Since it was my

There was also the practical and swiftly arranged visit to Belfast.
And unexpectedly I was literally introduced into the world of circus by learning how to make animals, flowers, swords and hats out of balloons. I had the honor to have my host, a professional, as teacher.

Susan was a fantastic help around the place. She approached everything with great energy and was prepared to have a go at things she had never tried before. We also thoroughly enjoyed the daily lengthy conversations around the kitchen table, Susan always had something interesting to add.

Noeleen and Henrik have a wonderful vision for their small-holding. They are kind people who will share their knowledge with you. I enjoyed the outdoors, the animals, and the local beach. The work was varied - from weeding and planting to painting and caring for animals. Staying in the caravan was enjoyable in good weather but didn’t work for me

Indeed I had committed to remain with the family before my arrival.
Unfortunately the hours of work I was supposed to do for them were not clear despite my request. So I decided to join a new host after just one week. I've been there for almost a month now and plan to continue with them until the end of August. There have been no surprises so far.

Ben left us much earlier than planned to move to a host better suited to his needs. The work he did in the short time he was with us, was done well.
Laissé par l'hôte pour le workawayer (Titouan)
Titouan was an absolute pleasure to host, a warm and open young man. He worked hard around the farm and was interesting to chat to around the dinner table. He left his room spotlessly clean. He would be welcome here again any time.
Laissé par l'hôte pour le workawayer (Martin)
Martin was a pleasure to host. He helped with a variety of tasks around the farm and worked diligently at all of them Lots of painting outbuildings and lots of weeding. For us the cultural exchange is as important as the work and Martin did not disappoint. We enjoyed stimulating conversation and had the pleasure of showing him a few bits of the

Definitely a positive experience. The host family is friendly and generous and the workload is always reasonable. I have spent only 20 days with Henrik and Noeleen, but I have had the occasion to visit several sites of cultural interest in County Down and in Belfast, and the host family was always eager to introduce me to the peculiar history of

A small caveat: there's only one place of interest within walking distance from the property (the beach in Ballyhornan and the nearby pub) and no convenience shop. However, the host family will be happy to give you rides and show you around on weekends.

My days with Noeleen, Henrik and their daughter have been a happy pleasure. They opened the doors of their home and their life to host me and I've felt really confortable there.
I've enjoyed the outsides tasks, feeding the animals (chikens, geese, ducks, pigs... all of them really funny!!), or building a fence. They weren't hard at all and every

I'm absolutely delighted with the experience!! 100% recommendable :)Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

Laissé par l'hôte pour le workawayer (Haizea)
Haizea was an absolute pleasure to host. She threw herself into every task we had with great energy and good humour. She was incredibly open about her life experiences and culture and keen to learn about ours. She even treated us to some wonderful Spanish cuisine. Her next hosts are lucky people.
Laissé par l'hôte pour le workawayer (Matthew)
Matthew arrived a volunteer and left as a friend. He was an absolute pleasure to host. He turned his hand to most things we asked including collecting eggs, weeding and building a new duck house. Infact he worked more than we asked him, intent on finishing whatever he started. In the evenings we had the wonderful delight of hearing some of the

The only inaccuracy in the family's self-description is that IN ADDITION to creating a homestead on a portion of a WWI US airbase (taxiways still present), the family also earns its living as circus clowns and magicians. And while they won't show you ALL of their magic, you may come away with a little knowledge in those mysteries, Seriously, the
… read more experience was wonderful. The family took the time to show me around the area, to visit family members, to taste local fish&chips in Ardglass; visit the site of St. Patrick's first church; enjoy the nearby pub; see Strangford where the Vikings first came ashore. Their 13 year-old daughter is fascinated by life and holds the prism of her youth to ask lovely questions about everything.
The work? Well, I helped build a duck house, unload whiskey barrels that their dad was converting into garden planters; weed; collect eggs; and share in the Irish culture I'd hope to encounter. Dress appropriately for the season , work hard, and havev a lovely time.Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.
