Description
Hello! We are a fun-loving family of five living in the beautiful Scottish Borders, surrounded by rolling hills, fresh air, and endless outdoor adventures. Just a 45-minute train ride from both Edinburgh and Newcastle, our location offers the best of peaceful countryside life with easy access to vibrant city culture.
Our family of 5 includes three energetic and kind-hearted children aged 8, 6, and 4. They love imaginative play, crafts, bike rides, animals, and anything that gets them outside exploring. There's never a dull moment in our home — whether we're building dens in the woods, baking cookies, or walking our four friendly dogs across the fields.
We live on a working farm, so there's always something interesting going on. It’s a great place if you love being outdoors, enjoy animals, and are happy in a more rural setting with a lot of space to breathe.
We’re looking for someone vibrant and enthusiastic who genuinely enjoys spending time with young children. Someone who is playful, creative, patient, and confident taking initiative with the kids. A love of the outdoors and animals is a must, as is a sense of humour and a flexible, can-do attitude. In return, you’ll be welcomed as part of our family, with your own room, time off to explore, and lots of support and appreciation for all that you do.
If you’re looking for a unique cultural experience in a beautiful setting — and are excited to join a warm, busy household full of love, laughter, and muddy boots — we’d love to hear from you!Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

You'll experience life in the heart of the Scottish Borders — a region full of history, natural beauty, and local traditions. From exploring ancient castles and village fairs to learning about farming life and enjoying homemade Scottish meals, there's always something new to discover. We love sharing our way of life and are equally excited to learn about your culture, language, and traditions too. You'll be treated as part of the family, with lots of opportunities to practice English, make local friends, and enjoy both the peaceful countryside and the buzz of nearby cities like Edinburgh and Newcastle.

Aide
Your days with us will be filled with a mix of fun and meaningful activities — from helping with simple meal prep and baking with the children, to getting creative with arts and crafts, supporting with homework, and enjoying plenty of time outdoors. Our kids love walks, den building, imaginative play, and exploring nature, so we’re looking for someone who’s happy to get stuck in and share those adventures with them.

You'll have your own comfortable accommodation in a separate building just a short walk from the main house, complete with a sitting room and private bathroom — giving you plenty of personal space and privacy to relax and unwind. While you'll have the freedom to come and go as you please, the kitchen is a shared space in the main house, where we often come together for meals and chats. It’s the best of both worlds: independence when you want it, and a warm, family atmosphere when you're ready to connect.

Possibilité d’accueillir les digital nomads
If you're a digital nomad, it's important to know that this role involves regular hands-on support throughout the day, especially as you'll be helping a busy mum who runs her own business from home. While there's plenty of downtime and personal space, we do need someone who can be consistently present and engaged with the children during key hours — particularly across the summer months when they're out of school. This isn’t a fit for someone looking to work full-time remotely alongside au pair duties, but could suit someone with a flexible, part-time digital role that fits around family life. Reliable availability, a genuine love of being with kids, and a proactive attitude are key!
