  Description

  We are a social enterprise entity with the focus on using bamboo to address 3 main concerns at the local community level :
  1. ECOLOGICAL SECURITY: conservation of forests through timber substitution, alternate materials to non-biodegradable & high energy consuming materials like metals and plastics.
  2. SUSTAINABLE FOOD SECURITY: bamboo based agro -forestry system, maintenance of soil fertility of adjoining agricultural lands, and bamboo shoots.
  3. LIVELIHOOD SECURITY: generation of employment in planting, primary processing for manufacturing and production of market driven bamboo products.
  
  Our intention is to make our place the base to conduct training, shared facility center making and marketing bamboo products.
  We have 2 full time workers staying and working here. At time we have more part time workers to assist during bamboo training programs that we conducted here and building more facilities here.

  They can mingle with the local communities and learn about the multiracial culture of the Malaysian. They can learn many things about bamboo i.e. planting, harvesting, treatment, bamboo working for furniture and construction. They can attend cultural events like malay weddings, Eid celebrations. They can taste fusion of food here between malay,chinese and indian.

  Aide

  From December to end of 2026 we are having many construction projects using natural materials like bamboo, mud, straw, recycled timber etc. We are also having a bamboo design and construction workshop , 13th to 24th April 2026. We need volunteers with construction background (architects, engineers, builders, carpenter etc) to assist us in Dec 2025 until end of 2026, for the construction works and the training workshops. Specifically we also need volunteers who have the knowledge and experience doing any of the following earth wall ie cob walls, adobe blocks wall, daub & wattle walls.
  
  For buildings and facilities, assist us housekeeping, repair and maintenance.
  For our bamboo & fruit trees garden, assist us in grass cutting, weeding, planting, fertilizing and watering the plants. We have more than 100 species of bamboo, many fruit trees, many herbs at our herbal garden and vegetables at our organic farm and bambusetum.
  
  At times we need volunteers to assist us in building more buildings and facilities, assist during any event and bamboo trainings conducted here. Here we conduct the whole cycle of bamboo activities like bamboo propagation, planting, harvesting, bamboo treatment and making bamboo handicrafts, furniture and construction.
  
  We are also running a cooking school, teaching authentic malay dishes and desert, from farm (organic) to table. At times volunteers are needed to assist the cooking instructor to do the farm tour, preparing ingredients, preparing the dining table and washing of plates, cooking utensils and the kitchen.

  Hébergement

  At our base camp, we have a main building with 2 bedrooms with attached bathroom, hall and kitchen. We are building more accommodation on the upper deck using bamboo. We also have an area by the small river as a camping site. We provide at least 3 meals a day.;
  We also have another 2 story timber house at the organic farm that can house 6 volunteers.

  Langkawi is a tourist island with many attractions. Our place is at a village in the centre of the island where everywhere is within 20 minutes by car or motorbikes. There are many activities here, the sea, good beaches, tropical rainforest, waterfalls, historical sites, geopark, tax free shopping and many more.
  Our organic farm and bambusetum is located on the eastern side of the island, on the fringe of the jungle with hiking trail, stream and waterfalls.
