Description
I’m too easily distracted from building my house, prefer to be outside. So I need some help!
Hi I’m John, I live a simple life in nature 25minutes from Kingaroy in S.E. Queensland, Australia. As well as maintaining 200 fruit trees and food gardens, I’m trying to finish building a hexagon house, which I need to have finished by August 2024.
It’s about 90% done, quite livable but needs some finishing touches, like an inside shower 😊.
I’m passionate about living and growing naturally, with a focus on building soil humus, that ‘soil magic’ that science still can’t fully explain. I’m all organic and use permaculture principles extensively,
While it’s challenging at times it’s also a rich learning experience. I feel I’ve learnt so much about nature, growing – and myself - in the last 12 years here.
I’m a designer/builder/5-trades handyman who loves exploring and developing new ideas. I’m more than happy to share my skills and ideas.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Permaculture is my passion. The earth gives us all we need, and much more. But we’ve taken too much and given so little. We need to get the balance right in order to harmonize our relationship with nature, and each other.
There are many different cultures, man made, each having something to give, But I believe permaculture - our sustainable relationship with the earth – enhances them all by making us healthier and happier. And less dependent on capricious profit-driven systems.
I’ve developed many of my own permaculture ideas for the particular challenges of this environment, I love experimenting and am happy to share my ideas.
A rural Australian, semi-outback, simple, self-sufficient, off-grid live style is the cultural experience I offer. Along with a rich opportunity to learn practical self-sufficient skills. I was raised on a dairy farm, and subsequent spent 22 years as a in “5 Trades Handyman”. Skills I’m happy to pass on.
I travel to Byron Bay area quite regularly where I work as a “5 Trades Handyman” for a small community. I’ve spent almost half the last 10 years there as I love the vibe of the place especially the 5 Rhythm type dances. Another distraction :/Aide
Would love to have someone to help me mainly with the young orchard and gardens. There may be some painting and other odd tasks. And if you could help getting my new website up and running that would be a bonus.
As I’m a little way from town I ask you to work only 15 hours per week. Any extra hours you wish to do, will be paid.
I'm off grid, all solar.Langues parlées

Hébergement
Accommodation, There are 2 options.
1. A spacious loft in the hexagon house with basic facilities.
2. A large tent if you prefer a more private - though wilder - experience using house facilities.
Another option in time is a concrete tiny house which just needs some basic facilities added to be livable,Autres infos...
There's a creek with huge gums, sand, swimming - pristine and serine just a 5 minute walk from the house.
I normally go to town once a week, Kingaroy is a town of ten thousand with all the essentials. And lots of peanuts, it’s famous for growing peanuts. Check it out online.
