    Description

Good morning! I have lived on a farm surrounded by hay fields and forest near Granby, Quebec (1 hour from Montreal) for 25 years. I have been working since then to make this place more beautiful; this is my paradise. Encourage and help people to become even more self-sufficient in food and try to make this world a better place by creating abundance! I'm always full of projects!

Code to respect: no alcohol or drugs. Being physically fit and having experience with manual labor is a huge bonus! The work can be demanding and is not suitable for people with back or knee problems. If you ever have a talent or diverse knowledge, I will be happy to hear from you and learn from you! New cultures, ways of living and cooking, various in-depth knowledge are of great interest to us!

You are more than welcome if you:

    - like a job well done
    - are eager to learn
    - are respectful, friendly and considerate towards others
    - are able to follow instructions
    - are able to adapt easily

If you are interested in joining my food self-sufficiency project and are motivated, please include the answers to the following questions in your message:

1- Why are you interested in participating in my project?
2- How old are you, where are you from, what is your life path (main lines)?
3-What dates are you interested in coming here, and for how long?
4- Do you have knowledge or skills and experience in a particular field, whatever it may be (gardening, orchard, animals, mechanics, forestry (logging), construction, cooking, etc.)?
5- Do you have a special diet?
6- Do you like cooking? Using fresh vegetables from the garden.
7- Any allergies or other health conditions that I should be aware of?

I am a non-smoker, but you can smoke outside without problem.

    Internet access available.

I speak English but not fluently.

Looking forward to receiving your response! I usually respond within 48 hours.

The farm is a way of life! Here life is regulated according to Mother Nature and the activities of the farm. It’s learning by doing: when you give 100%, you are rewarded. There is the possibility of leaving with a wealth of knowledge in several areas (animals, construction, gardening, fruit trees, cooking, fermentation, canning, dehydration, etc.). I have two greenhouses, gardens, nut trees, a small orchard of varied fruit trees and shrubs (food forest), a sugar shack, other shacks for housing, animals (chickens, goats and rabbits). ), ponds, and composting site. I do processing, slaughtering, canning... Food autonomy is my goal... in these times... good idea...!

here are the types of tasks that need to be done depending on the season:

In the spring, everything happens at the same time, the giving birth of the goats, the sugaring time, the preparation of the land, the planting of the gardens, the start of weeding, the application of the compost, the repair of the fences for the animal pastures. Nature is generous and flourishing, it warms the heart - but also it's a lot of work for me!

During the summer, there is a lot of weeding and also mulching, watering, harvesting, etc.

During the end of summer and fall, more fruit and vegetable harvesting, processing, tree and garden care and various construction/renovation projects, etc.

In winter, there is a little more time for burning firewood, splitting, bringing in wood, pruning fruit trees, cleaning animal parks.

    a room in my house. Besides cooking (you can cook if you are comfortable and enjoy it. I expect volunteers to help clean up the kitchen after meals; I do not have the option to prepare separate plates for people with special diets. If you are vegetarian or vegan, you must be prepared to adapt to the meals that are served, or to prepare your own meals in your free time);
