*️️️️️️*️️️️️️HURRICANE/EARTHQUAKE UPDATE: THE FINCA LIVES ON!!*️️️️️️*️️️️️️

Thank you for reading our profile in our time of most need.

First and foremost, we are grateful that we suffered no loss of life nor injuries to our families, friends and neighbors.

Like many of our co-patriots, we have sustained property damage (part of the roof blown off, windows shattered and water/wind damage) but our crops suffered the worst of it. Nonetheless, we accept what the Mountain gives us and know that there is a gift waiting to reveal itself amongst all this tragedy; for that is the way of the Universe and we trust our Divine Pachamama and Ancestors to help us rebuild, replant and begin anew.

Having said that, we could use all the help we can and are therefore definitely accepting new helpers starting immediately. Here are the details of our current situation so you can make an informed decision about helping us rebuild.

We are grateful to have electric and running water back after almost 9 months of not having either. Our newly planted papaya trees as well as banana trees have come to harvest and we continue to replace our lost fruits and vegetables with new seedlings. The Mountain soil is still rich and fertile which allows us to continue planting more and more crops every lunar cycle.

Here is some of the type of work you can expect to complete during your time with us:

    -continued hurricane clean up
    -window repair
-planting of new seeds and continued seedling care
    -natural fertilizing of crops
    -weeding
-clearing new land patches for new crops
    -painting
-path clearing with machete and weedwacker
    -fence repair
    -cooking
    -housecleaning

...and many other types of tasks as the hurricane clean up unfolds.

Along with tall rubber boots, work gloves and thin material long pants and shirts, we recommend you bring mosquito repellent, flashlights, batteries and any other post-hurricane supplies you think may be helpful.

Let us know if you are interested in coming so we may plan for your arrival accordingly. We appreciate your kind consideration and hope to see you soon.

Take care, be safe, Love all and serve all.

We live in a tropical, terraform farm in the beautiful, serene, rural mountains of Guayama, Puerto Rico. These sacred lands have been cultivated for generations, with our family working the earth for the past 30 years. Our farm is a lush, gorgeous landscape where we grow a myriad of fruits, vegetables and flowers (banana, papaya, plantains, coffee, passion fruit, legumes, oranges, noni, lettuce, squash, tomatoes, orchids, root vegetables…just to name a few). We believe and practice sustainable, terraform conservation farming in loving protection and in high respect of Mother Earth/Pachamama.

Work: We work Mon-Fri, 6am-2pm with a breakfast break followed by lunch at the end of the work day. The grounds always need our tender love and care in the form of seeding, planting, hoeing, weeding, weed-whacking, pruning, clearing, harvesting, etc. We also conduct additional farm-related projects such as construction, road building, small engine repair, etc. In addition to farm and construction related projects, we may also be hosting bed & breakfast guests at our farm. Thus, housekeeping duties are also required. You may also volunteer to assist us at the weekend local markets where we sell our goods and wares.

Food: We are a vegetarian household and provide a prepared breakfast and lunch. Please note that we cannot accommodate vegan diets. You are free to prepare your own vegetarian snacks/meals/dinner from any of the basic provisions in the makeshift helper kitchen area (some farm grown fruits/vegetables, rice, pasta, dry goods, peanut butter, jelly, crackers, canned goods, etc.). We welcome you to join us when we go shopping so you may buy your own other desired items for your own consumption (again, we do not allow any cooking of meat on our grounds).

Accommodations: We have an upstairs large, two-bedroom apartment complete with open plan living room, dining room and kitchen (sink, stove, fridge and microwave). See attached pictures . Hot water is attained through solar panels and is best accessed during the high sun. Maximum of 4 helpers.

Length of Stay: MINIMUM OF TWO WEEKS. Extended stays are possible upon evaluation and approval of the head farmer.

Leisure activities: We work hard and play hard here too. Once the work day is done you are free to hike the mountains, enjoy the river located within our boundaries, fish at the lake just a short 20-30 minute walk away, meditate/commune with nature or just relax in a hammock. We are musically inclined and play all kinds of instruments (guitar, cuatro, cajon, pan flute, bongos, etc.) and we love to dance! We will be happy to teach you a few salsa/merengue steps too. We want you to get the most out of your visit to our beautiful Isla de Encanto so you may experience the rich history, cultural and full warmth and celebratory nature of the Puerto Rican people.

Languages: English/Spanish. We will teach you a few words if you like and are eager to learn any new languages.

Animals: We have several outside farm cats. No other pets allowed.

Weather: Spring/Summer Months-hot days, warm nights, humid. Fall/Winter Months-hot days, cool nights; very high humidity, intermittent rain showers.

    Miscellaneous:
    • Must be 21 yrs of age or older at the time of the application process
    • At our discretion, we reserve the right to discontinue anyone's stay for unacceptable behavior

    • Due to the nature of work you will be completing at our farm, we highly recommend that you receive a tetanus shot
prior to your arrival for your own health and well being

Our goal is to host hardworking, harmonious, peaceful, fun-loving helpers who highly respect Mother Earth/Pachamama. We are accepting and affirming of all human beings and expect all who participate to be open minded (“ism's” are unwelcomed). We revere our simple yet magical lives here. In the spirit of gratitude for this blessed existence, and upon completion of our construction projects, we plan to offer various group symposiums (Down syndrome, art, dance, music, languages, etc.), among other ventures, to honor this gift that has been bestowed upon us.

Hermanos y Hermanas! Come join us on these hallowed grounds if you wish to be at One with Pachamama through meaningful hard work, laughter, dance, music and fun. We look forward to meeting you! :0)
