I am land. And so are you.
On the rolling hills behind Al-Bireh, where stone meets tree and green meets blue, we are starting a new grassroots agricultural initiative; completely independent, totally natural, and very much from the heart.
The idea is for people – Palestinians and wherever else you may come from – to help on a plot of land, in return getting fresh vegetables, new skills, and a meaningful time.
We don't want money involved. You come and volunteer your time, then during harvest period bring home bags of fresh, clean, honest vegetables that you've planted and weeded and taken care of yourself. We use no chemicals, only the old Palestinian fellahi [farmer] knowledge and skills. We believe that everybody has the right to the healthy fruits of the land – the land that we inherited from our fathers, grandfathers, forefathers, and mothers.

There is no better way to understand a Palestinian way of life than through working on Palestinian land.
Volunteering on our organic farm will give you an opportunity to get close to nature, to learn something about the traditional way of farming, to learn a bit of Arabic and most of all drink a lot of tea! You will also always be able to enjoy the fresh organic vegetables from our big garden.
We are looking for volunteers who are flexible and can do a bit of everything. We currently mostly need help with organising the (big) garden and prepare it for the next season. There is also always work to do with the sheep and goats, and we are planning to have more animals on the farm in the future.
We are looking for dedicated volunteers, regardless of their previous farming experience. We will learn together.
The volunteers will live with the family in Al Bireh, a short ride (or 20 min walk) down the hill. There is also an option to pitch a tent on the farm.
The atmosphere on the farm feels like you are very far away from the civilization but in fact, the hustle and bustle of the most liberal town in Palestine is just a short ride away.
Al Bireh is a town adjacent to Ramallah, the current administrative center of Palestine. If you need to go to town, you hop into a shared taxi (service) which takes you to dontown Ramallah in 10 minutes for 2.5 NIS (roughly 65 euro cents).
The proximity to Ramallah, located in the center of Palestine, makes it for a very convenient spot to explore the rest of the country on your days off.
