    Description

Hi! We’re Renia and Miguel — a Polish-Spanish family with two children: Oscar (4) and Leo (6). We met during a year-long trip through Asia, and afterward we lived for several years in Zurich, where our kids were born. We always knew we’d want to hit the road again someday. Eventually, the time came to quit our jobs and leave behind our comfortable life 😊 We set off on a road trip around Europe in a camper van, slowly searching for our dream home. That’s how we ended up in Galicia.

We’ve been living in Boborás for almost 2 years now — it's a tiny village about an hour from the coast, an hour from Portugal, and one from Santiago de Compostela. So we’re right in the heart of southern Galicia. We bought an old house with a piece of land in the forest, and we’ve been working on turning this little slice of paradise into a home, with our own hands. There’s always something to do here, because nature is in charge 😊
The kids go to the local school, and we’re also involved in the community — we help out in the school canteen and are active in the parents' association. I (Renia) am learning Spanish, as I’m not fluent yet.
We’re trying to build a circle of friends with similar interests. We’re active people, and we love hiking, exploring new places, and being close to nature. As for animals, for now our little wild kingdom is represented by two cats: Patron and Bazyli.

Galicia is absolutely beautiful! So green and full of mystery! Our area is surrounded by forests, rivers with little hidden beaches, hiking trails, and untamed nature. There’s so much to explore!

In your free time, you can go for a bike ride, take a walk through the forest, relax with a book in a hammock or take a refreshing dip in the pool!
If you'd like to visit bigger cities like Santiago, Vigo, or even Porto, you can get there by bus or train

We really value our peace and quiet out here in nature, though sometimes we enjoy listening to music as well. We like watching good movies and series, and playing board games and cards with guests. We value our (and your) independence.

Our home is self-sufficient — we get our electricity from solar panels and our water from a well.

There's a small overgrown building that we plan to turn into a chicken coop — it needs to be cleared of thick brush and vegetation. In addition, there are some light gardening tasks (mainly getting rid of thorny bushes and planting grass — we don’t have a vegetable garden yet, but we plan to start one soon). There’s lots of grass to mow and plenty of thorny bushes to pull out.

We’re looking for people who are proactive and able to help independently. Some tasks we’ll do together, but mostly you’ll be handling things on your own. A maximum of 5 hours a day — we prefer to do tasks in the mornings while the kids are at school....…because after that, a different kind of tasks begins for us 😄 (If you connect well with our kids, part of your help could also include spending an afternoon with them now and then :).

With us, you will learn how to live sustainably using solar power and well water, gain practical DIY skills and get hands-on experience in basic gardening. You will discover the culture of Galicia, taste local foods and homemade dishes, and explore wild nature — from forests and rivers to hidden trails and quiet spots in the countryside.

Our house isn’t very big — upstairs are the bedrooms: ours and the kids’ and one bathroom. Downstairs we have the living room, kitchen, two guest rooms and one bathroom.

We can offer a few accommodation options:

    - a small room in the house with two beds (our main option)
    - a spot in the garden to pitch a tent — for those craving a bit of adventure 😄
    - a stay in our camper parked in front of the house (this is more of a backup when family visits and the house is full)

Breakfast and dinner are up to you — help yourself to the fridge and make whatever you like. We try to have dinner together, depending on the kids and how the day goes.
The main meal is prepared by us and we usually eat together around 2 p.m. If you feel like cooking something sometimes, the kitchen is at your disposal.

We’re not vegetarians. We eat rice, pasta, veggies, meat, everything... We don’t drink excessive amounts of alcohol—just the occasional glass of wine or beer. If you want to enjoy drinks, please buy them yourself in reasonable amounts.

Also, we really don’t like the smell of cigarette smoke, so we only welcome non-smokers.

We live in the middle of the forest, but the center of our village is only a few minutes’ walk away. It’s literally just one street — they have a small shop, a health clinic, a pharmacy, a bank, etc. The nearest bigger town is Carballiño, a 10-minute drive away. From there, trains and buses depart.
