Description
An Icelandic mother of three young children in the capital area, is open to hosting an open-minded, responsible person, preferably an experienced workawayer over 25, who is seeking cultural and language exchange by engaging in daily family life. We live in a quiet, suburban part of Reykjavík, close to nature and several hiking trails. We have a spare room and will respect your privacy, but would appreciate if you would like to share meals and meal preparations with us every now and then (or as often as suits you) and teach the children some English, French or Arabic. We have two cats (in case you have an allergy). We are earlybirds with a strict bedtime routine but easy going and very active.

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
We want to get to know new cultures by joint meal preparation, learning to cook new dishes from different cuisines. In return, I can cook several Icelandic and Spanish dishes.
The best way to embrace yourself in Icelandic culture is to visit the local swimming pool. We live very close to one, and are frequent visitors. Feel free to join us there whenever it suits you.
Additionally, we are planning to move to a country where they children will learn English, French and Arabic (MSA/Gulf/Bahraini). Therefore, a person who is willing to teach them a few words or phrases in those languages would be welcomed. In return, we can teach Icelandic, Swedish and a handful of other languages. -

Aide
We are looking for someone who is visiting Iceland in September, October or November, who likes children and cats. An earlybird who wants to share breakfast, or just morning coffee, and teach three active children (aged 1-8) some English, French or Arabic (MSA/Gulf /Bahraini) would be ideal. We do not expect you to dine with us but if you want to, we would want you to take part in the meal preparation and tidying up.It would be highly appreciated if you could teach us cooking dishes from your home-country and/or read the kids a bedtime story in the above-mentioned languages.

Hébergement
We live in a two-storied house, with a garden, where you would have your own room (with a desk, bed and shelves) and bathroom with a shower (we mostly use the other bathroom). We like to keep the house tidy at all times, so we will expect you to be tidy as well. We do not accept smoking , drugs or heavy drinking at the house. Please do not bring visitors over.
The children eat breakfast at home and you are more than welcome to join (Cerials, porridge, coffee). We leave the house for work and school/preschool early . We can leave ingredients for you to cook you lunch while we are away during the day. You are also more than welcome to join us for dinner, but a few hours notice would be appreciated so that I can buy the right amount of groceries. I would also expect you to help preparing the meals you take part in, or keep the kids busy while I cook, and help tidying up after the meal.
You are free to use any kitchen appliances or the washing machine, as long as you clean up after yourself. Any additional help with tidying and/or cleaning would be highly appreciated in our busy household. -
Autres infos...
We live close to several bus stops, connecting you to the entire capital area (and even the countryside). In addition, it is very easy to rent a scooter anywhere in Reykjavík (via Hopp Scooter App). If you want to take daytrips to the country side, we can lend you a car.
We live very close to the local swimming pool, a large gym, a movie theatre, a bowling hall, green walking areas, and good hiking trails.
Feel free to enjoy the night life of downtown Reykjavík in the weekends, as long as you do not interupt our sleep. -
