We are an organic dairy farm situated in the hearth of the Italian Alps at the altitude of 1927m at the edge of a plateau facing stunning the peaks of the Gran Paradiso mountain and national park. The farm is 5 km from Cogne and 30 km from the city of Aosta.
We have around 30 cows and 80 goats and we produce, by using only our freshly milked raw milk, local cheese (fresh and seasoned), butter, yogurt and other fresh cheeses which we then sell directly to our costumers at independent organic markets in the north of Italy.
Beside cows and goats we have pigs, geese, chickens, cats and dogs. We value greatly our vegetable garden which provides vegetables for the household during the summer. We love our animals and are proud of our products. We, as always, continue to work using "the old ways" techniques and logics used by the people who used to farm these lands before us with, as people say, great results.
Our animals are kept on the untouched mountain pastures for over 6 months a year and the winter they're fed with the hay that we produce, we do not feed our animal with concentrated bran of any kind.
In the summer months we move up with the animals to the high pastures which are located in the valley of Arpisson at the altitude of 2327m and remain there weather and pastures permitting until mid September.
The high pastures are a treat and experience for the real mountain lovers, the only way to reach the pasture is a foot path, about 1hour walk. To transfer all the working gear and cheese's at the beginning and end of the season we use helicopter transport.
We speak Italian, French, English, German and Swedish.

As you might understand from the above description we are a "closed circle" farm and we work using the "old ways", knowledge that has been used for hundreds of years from mountain farmers before us.
Our animals eat the grass and hay that grows here, we milk them and produce fresh and to seasoned cheese; we then sell our produce directly to our customers (final consumers) on organic markets in cities of north Italy.
It's farm life and, especially high up in the mountains it can be tough, extremely beautiful, pure and giving.
We are looking for motivated independent and responsible people that can preferably stay for 2/3 month (we accommodate couples as well) we are ready to teach and share responsibility.
The help consists generally in, caring for and feeding the animals, cleaning the stables, helping with miking cows and goats, helping with the production and seasoning procedures of the different cheeses, cleaning up dairy gear and the dairy itself, looking for eggs in the hay, gardening, gazing cows and goats, chopping wood, cutting hay in the summer, cooking, cleaning dishes and you name it we've never had a dull moment.

Shared accommodation for helpers is provided in an attic above the hay-barn, close to shower and toilet (yes we do have hot water).
The attic is equipped with with a good number of mattresses which you can arrange at your pleasure. We do have plenty of sheets and blankets but, we recommend you bring a sleeping bag.
In the attic, as in all of our structures, heating is by wood stoves.
Regarding food, there is one only kitchen in which we all share our meals as well as the cooking.
In your free time you have the most beautiful peaks to conquer, beautiful valleys to discover and explore. In the winter you can enjoy alpine ski in Cogne or it's famous 45km of cross-country slopes.
Cogne and its neighbor towns are beautiful original mountain towns where you will be able to find most of what you might require from shop's to restaurant's and bar's.
