We are a small, holistic community (of between 4 – 6 people) based in a beautiful isolated location on the Ardnamurchan peninsular, west coast of Scotland. Our smallholding is nestled on the south shore of Loch Shiel, surrounded by hundreds of acres of forest at the base of the mountain that supplies our drinking water. We are in a very secluded location, surrounded by Nature, which has no road access and is only accessible by boat (or a day’s walk).
Living in a healthy and sustainable way is important to us, and translates to all areas of our lives; from generating our own electricity (hydro and solar), growing food, sprouting, fermenting seeds and grains and grinding our own flour. With this in mind we especially welcome those who are interested in healthy eating and nutrition.
We embrace organic and biodynamic gardening principles, working in harmony with the rhythms of Nature and the celestial cycles. We have organic gardens and polytunnels, a young forest garden, building projects, along with a joyous family life.
We invite Work Away's who feel drawn to our ethos to visit and participate in our way of life, living and working in harmony with Nature, ancient principles and practices.
Please search “Sacred Living Earth Trust” online for more info on our work and projects.
We look forward to hearing from you :)

We offer Work Away's / our guests a hands-on living experience where you will have the opportunity to learn and share practical skills such as working with organic growing, biodynamics, sustainable living, building projects, land management, wood gathering, healthy eating, wholesome living, connecting with the spirits of plants and Nature, ancient wisdom and spiritual practice. Woven into this is the opportunity to deepen your relationship with the Earth and Spirit. Being in such a remote and secluded location creates an opportunity to experience stillness and connection with Nature in a clear, profound way.
Tasks that we may ask for your help with include: organic and biodynamic gardening, wood collection, log splitting and storing, land maintenance, building work, tree/hedge planting, fencing, general help in the buildings and land, food preparation, cooking,.
Guests have use of the guesthouse where there are 2 small, simple bedrooms with bunkbeds in, a communal kitchen, living room area (which also has a 5th bed in) with a wood burning stove, a hot shower and toilet. There is also a beautiful area by the river for camping should you wish to camp.
In season, the garden is vibrant with organic salad and seasonal produce, and the guesthouse kitchen is stocked with other vegetables, fruits, grains, pulses, seeds, condiments.. Wild venison is available twice a week for meat eaters. Guests are provided with everything you need in the kitchen, and asked to take care of your own meals. There is often more than one guest staying with us, so cooking and meals tend to be shared by guests.
We are a small community that consists of 4 adults and 2 young children, sometimes expanding to 10 or more when we are working with certain projects or offering our immersion programs with the Sacred Living Earth Trust.
It is a quiet, peaceful place that is enjoyed for its beauty and tranquillity of Nature – mountains, forest, wildlife, lochs, rivers, vast open skies. Sometimes there will be just a 3 or 4 people around on the land, and at other times more. We ask guests to be aware of the secludedness of our location, being accessible only by boat, with no neighbours, shops or towns easily accessible.
We have a joyful, active, diverse life, working the land, gardens, buildings, kitchen, and running a superfoods business and music studio along with our work for the Sacred Living Earth Trust.
We gather for work at 8am each day, and finish at 5pm, with 1 hour for lunch, and ask our guests to be aware of this and live and work in these rhythms with us. Living off gird, close to nature, and having many things to tend to, there are times when we will work later into the evening. We ask guests to be flexible about this and be open to working with us in the flow of what needs to be done.
Evenings and Sundays are your free time, for you to go for walks, canoe (we have canoes), fish (we have fishing equipment), swim in the loch, read (we have a small library of organic gardening, natural healing, spirituality and wellbeing books in the guesthouse), write, ferment foods, bake, watch films, meditate, practice yoga/tai chi, rest, be creative... as you wish :)
We ask guests to be sensitive to the environment and Nature in the evenings and enjoy a quiet/calm space.
Our ethos is rooted in living in harmony with all Life and therefore we do not allow the use of any substances such as drugs, alcohol or smoking on the land.
Internet is limited, though you will be able to send and check emails at times, if needed. We do get mobile phone reception on most (but not all) networks.
Please also note that we have 3 cats and 2 dogs that live with us.
