This was our first experience volunteering with Workaway and the experience could not have been better. John and Linnea are lovely people, they welcomed us in their home and made us feel like a member of their family, we shared many incredible moments with them and the children. Our room was very beautiful and spacious, we had our own bathroom.

About our activities, they were basic daily chores, like taking and picking up Bror from school, walking the beautiful and loving dog Ragsdale, helping to prepare some dinners, cleaning the house sometimes and helping in other activities, but all very easy to do and nothing heavy.
We will never forget the incredible dinners we had, where we were able to exchange life experiences and share with their friends.
Thank you very much dear family for receiving us and making us feel part of your home.

Marine and Estelle were absolutely delightful guests - who we now consider friends. They were hugely helpful in our busy house. They were kind, polite and diligent. We spent a month with the Hopkins family in Frome. It was such a pleasure to meet this lovely and wonderful people. We really felt like we were a part of the family, we enjoyed our time with the boys and Idun, such a beautiful and funny little baby.
We were able to visit a lot of cities during weekends, we visited Bath, Bristol and we even went
… read more to Cardiff which was a great place. Of course, we walked around Frome which is not a small place like we could have imagined it, a pretty city with a hippie vibe and an excellent market to go to on the Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
We did some gardening, painting and cleaning up the house. We also helped them with the children, picked them up from school, cooked sometimes for dinner and we loved to play with them and did some awesome Art.
We also had a good time to walk around the park with Ragsy who is such a funny dog.
We met some wonderful people there, we had amazing meals, Hoppy is such a good cook and as French girls we were so lucky to have fresh bread directly baked by Linnea.

I really felt at home here in Frome, such a gem or a workaway. I was able to feel apart of a fantastic family and also meet some great people during my stay. The odd jobs never felt too much and, moreover, I enjoyed helping. All in all, I can't recommend the Hopkins enough and will look forward to meeting you all again soon 😇 x

Thank you Linnea for all the tips about what to do in the area and for taking us to see Glastonbury, Nunney Castle and the pumpkin festival, we are very grateful because you always tried to show us what is cool around the town. John, thank you for all the delicious meals and for always making us feel at home. I hope all your innovative projects are a success.
About our activities there: we arrived during the children's half term and we were able to spend a lot of time with them, playing, drawing, going to the park and cinema and many other activities. Hans and Bror are energetic kids so be prepared with plenty of ideas to entertain them. Idun is the most beautiful and friendly baby I have ever met, I had the chance to take care of her alone during our first weekend there while the rest of the family was traveling, it was a challenging experience but I am grateful for the trust that Linnea deposited on me.
We were able to help with the day-to-day rush, cleaning the house and shack, cooking, going for walk with Ragsy the dog and doing some outside work in the garden. It sure was a great place to improve our english, with all the help and patience of the family. we also learned about sustainable lifestyle and will try to follow some of the tips when we are back home.
We will always remember you all fondly and hope to see you again one day. ❤️

For a first experience as a workawayer, we couldn't wish much better.

We’ve spent the loveliest time with John, Linnea, Ragsdale the dog and the kids. They were super kind, friendly and generous hosts. They made us feel part of their family.

We’ve made many things during the months we stayed with them. During lockdown we helped the kids with their homeschooling activities. We also fixed some stonewalls, gardening and some painting jobs. They were very flexible when arranging working hours, we could choose whether doing our hours in the morning or in the afternoon, weekdays or weekends.
We are very grateful they let us stay with them during lockdown and also letting us be part of their projects in the lovely town of Frome.

Iñaki and Julia were wonderful guests and we loved having them to stay. They were so helpful around the house and great fun to hang out with. The children loved them, and during lockdown, Iñaki and Julia were incredible helping us with homeschooling. We could not recommend them highly enough.

Hoppy and Linnea are both on the go kind of people, love being moving and taking in their town. Frome is adorable and beautiful all in one, we’re sad we couldn’t see more of it because of stupid lockdown! But they love living in Frome, and that’s a very refreshing thing to be a part of! Their boys Hans and Bror are precious, smart, and will keep you on your toes! Ragsdale the pup is the oddest looking creature in the world but he was fantastic and loves his back scratches haha Overall, we would recommend this family for a definite individual experience that will be hard to top!
